This paper presents the information on the distribution of the moss Bryum gemmiferum R. Wilczek & Demaret in Poland. The first species site from southern Poland was published, but further research and revision of the herbarium materials provided information about its occurrence in different parts of the country. Currently, this species is known in...
Trees have a crucial importance in the functioning of ecosystems on Earth. They are among the largest and longest-living taxa and provide habitat and shelter to numerous species belonging to diverse groups of organisms. Relict trees are of particular interest through their history of survival and adaptation, and because they potentially shelter rar...
The results of the bryological investigations from the Kampinoski National
Park are presented. 167 bryophytes species were noted – 24 liverworts and 143 mosses.
The presence of 125 bryophytes previously noted from his area was confirmed, and 42
species not yet recorded in the Kampinoski National Park were found (11 liverworts
and 31 mosses).
The paper presents a list of 64 moss species recorded in the Chochołowska Valley (including Wyżnia Chochołowska Valley, Jarząbcza Valley and the surrounding peaks). Detected taxa belong to 25 families. Among them, the most commonly represented are Polytrichaceae (9 species), Dicranaceae (6), Pottiaceae (6), Hylocomiaceae (5), Hypnaceae (5), Grimmia...
This work presents a list of new localities for Dicranoweisia cirrata and Schljakovia kunzeana in Poland and Slovakia.
The results of bryological investigations from the “Boczki” nature reserve, located in Puszcza
Romincka Forest, are presented. The reserve was established in 1974 for protection well preserved forest
communities characteristic of the Romincka Primeval Forest. 154 bryophyte species were recorded – 37 liverworts
and 117 mosses, including 37 unpublish...

Tree species effects in afforestation of post-industrial lands have important impacts on biodiversity of restored sites. We aimed to assess tree species effects on bryophytes in a novel ecosystem – a reclaimed lignite mine spoil heap. We investigated bryophyte species pools in tree stands of six species: Alnus glutinosa, Betula pendula, Pinus sylve...

This work presents a list of localities for the following species: Barbilophozia barbata, Campylopus flexuosus, Conocephalum salebrosum, Didymodon spadiceus, Eucladium verticillatum, Frullania dilatata, Hamatocaulis vernicosus, Harpanthus flotovianus, Pohlia ludwigii, Riccardia latifrons, Scorpidium scorpioides, Sphagnum fuscum, and Tomentypnum nit...
The paper presents the results of studies on bryophyte flora of the Reberce forest reserve located in the Przemyśl foothills. Thirty-three species of liverworts, 70 species and two varieties of mosses were found. Terrestrial (66 species) and epixylic (58) bryophytes formed the largest ecological groups in the reserve. Twenty-four protected species...
Information on distribution and habitats of 176 bryophyte species revealed by a survey of the Wolin Island conducted during the 12 th Bryological Workshop organised by the Bryological Section of the Polish Botanical Society is presented. The most interesting (rare, protected and threatened) are: Ctenidium molluscum, Dicranum viride, Frullania tamar...
New distribution data for 171 bryophyte taxa in the Roztocze National Park are provided. Among them there are 43 species protected by law in Poland, including 20 strictly protected species, as well as 13 species threatened in Poland. The research revealed 36 species (5 liverworts and 31 mosses) new for the region. Noteworthy is the occurrence of 19...

1.Plant community composition is recognized more and more for playing an important role in ecosystem processes, such as C cycling. Especially plant functional type (PFT) composition seems to have a key regulatory role, yet the underlying mechanisms in the interaction between PFTs and ecosystem processes are still to be identified.2.Here, we assess...
Oxyrrhynchium speciosum (Brid.) Warnst. is a relatively uncommon moss that can be found in wetland habitats across Europe and New Zealand. In this paper, we address the morphological, molecular and ecological relationships between the aquatic form of O. speciosum discovered in a deep, Chara-dominated lake (Budzisławskie, NW Poland) and its terrestr...

New distribution data for 183 species, one subspecies and four varieties of bryophytes in the
Świętokrzyski National Park are provided. The most interesting species (rare, protected and new for the
area) are Anastrophyllum hellerianum, Buxbaumia viridis, Cephalozia catenulata, Dicranum viride, Lophozia
ascendens, Mannia fragrans and Tetraplodon ang...
This paper presents the map of distribution of Microbryum davallianum (Sm.) R. H. Zander in Poland and the list of localities established upon revised herbarium materials. This is the first data on the presence of Microbryum davallianum var. conicum (SchwSgr.) R. H. Zander and phytocoenoses of the Pottietum davallianae (Kflhner 1971) Marst. 1981 as...
We investigated the relationships between testate amoebae (Arcellinida, Euglyphida), vegetation and water chemistry along environmental gradients in minerotrophic peatlands (fens) in western Poland. We hypothesized that: a) hydrochemistry significantly influences structure of testate amoeba communities, and b) testate amoeba communities are more cl...
Rich Jurassic deposits of limestones occur in the borderland between Pałuki and Kujawy. For over 150 years, limestone originating from Piechcin, Bielawy and Wapienno quarries was used as a raw material in the lime and cement industry. In the monograph there were characterized both geological conditions and flora and fauna of the quarries and heaps....
The aim of the research was to assess the changes in the bryophyte species composition of
the forest nature reserve “Bukowe Zdroje” in the years -. The reserve is situated in the Puszcza
Bukowa forest near Szczecin and it occupies an area of . ha. It was established to preserve beech forest
community Galio odorati-Fagetum (= Melico-Fag...
The paper presents a brief review of published so far and recently recorded unpublished bryological data concerning the distribution in Poland of two neophytic (sensu Meusel 1943) mosses: Campylopus introflexus (Hedw.) Brid. and Orthodontium lineare Schwaegr. to estimate their current influence on native bryoflora. The data clearly indicate the con...
Spring fens are rare elements in the lake district landscape of western Poland. The paper presents bryological and habitat studies conducted on Makąty fen situated in the Puszcza Notecka (the Notecka Primeval Forest area). Flora of bryophytes in the investigated area comprises taxa, in-cluding species of liverworts, as well as species and two varie...
Abstract. The ‘Żurawiniec’ Nature Reserve situated in the city of Poznań was investigated in 1998 and 2003, i.e. over 45 years after it was established (1957). The results include lists of recorded taxa of vascular flora, bryophytes, and phytosociological description of plant communities which all show considerable changes in the area’s plant cover...
