Introduction
My research is focused on climate change impacts on agriculture, the possible adaptation of farmers, and the resulting effects in terms of land use change. It involves also evaluating different public policies addressing major environmental issues related to water pollution and climate change mitigation. The empirical studies are based on econometric models combining data from statistics and mathematical programming models. Currently, we work on a climate change evaluation of land use change for the European Union.

Mineral nitrogen (N) application in agriculture has significantly increased food production over the past century. However, the intensive use of N fertilizers also impacts negatively the environment, notably through greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss and remains a major challenge for policymakers. In this paper, we explore the effects o...
Synthetic Nitrogen (N) usage in agriculture has greatly increased food supply over the past century. However, the intensive use of N fertilizer is nevertheless the source of numerous environmental issues and remains a major challenge for policymakers to understand, measure, and quantify the interactions and trade-offs between ecosystem carbon and t...
Econometric land use models study determinants of land use shares of different classes: “agriculture”, “forest”, “urban” and “other” for example. Land use shares have a compositional nature as well as an important spatial dimension. We compare two compositional regression models with a spatial autoregressive nature in the framework of land use. We...
Pressures on resources and climate change are likely to strongly impact the availability of water, which directly affects agricultural systems. To estimate these impacts, we develop a prospective approach combining an agricultural supply side economic model and a crop model. We extend previous work by incorporating water resource constraints and ap...
Objectives: Evaluate the capacity of temperate forest resources to both provide climate change mitigation and to sustain the downstream timber sector explicitly considering the cascade of biophysical and economic drivers (in particular, climate change impacts and subsequent adaptation actions) and their uncertainty. Methodology: A recursive bio-eco...
Pressures on freshwater ecosystems are mainly human induced and driven by land use and climate change. We develop an empirical framework to estimate the impacts of land use (agriculture, forest, pasture, urban) and climate change on freshwater biodiversity, measured by a fish-based index, in France. Our estimation results reveal that rivers in area...
Interaction between mitigation and adaptation is a key question for the design of climate policies. In this paper, we study how land use adaptation to climate change impacts land use competition in the agriculture, forest and other land use (AFOLU) sector and how a mitigation policy in agriculture might affect this competition. We use for this purp...
The spatial differentiation of input-based pollution fees should in theory decrease compliance costs in the case of nitrate pollution of water bodies from agriculture because both the damage and the compliance costs vary over space. However, the empirical evidence in the literature does not agree on the extent of the potential savings from differen...
Agricultural rent in land-use models: comparison of frequently used proxies. Spatial Economic Analysis. This paper compares the performance of econometric land-use models based on three proxies for agricultural land rent: farmers’ revenues, land prices and shadow land prices derived from a mathematical programming model. We consider different land-...
The research work presented in this doctoral thesis is devoted to the study of land use. The question is examined from two angles: i) land use within the farm (the choice of crops, pastures), and ii) land use between economic sectors (forests, urban, agriculture, etc.). Two methods were employed: mathematical programming models for the agriculture...

We aim at investigating different scenarios for European agriculture and Land use. We do so by combining economic models working on different scales.
