Introduction
I work on developing theoretical concepts that can help us understand the ways in which human beings participate in and contribute to a social world. I am engaged in qualitative psychological and educational research centered on the everyday lives of children in societal arrangements such as day care, school, and so forth. The aim of my research is to raise a critical voice developed with a point of departure from an analytical first-person perspective of concrete children and their adults.

This article analyzes the possibilities and obstacles in pedagogical practices in ECEC (Early Childhood Education and Care) in relation to developing relevant opportunities for participation for all children, by supporting their own engagements in order to expand their action possibilities. Over the last decades, the political agendas in the Nordic...

In this article I argue for and unfold the conceptualisation of children's proximal societal conditions. This concept is developed through research based on the German/Danish version of Critical Psychology. Various research projects studying children's everyday life in different day care settings and in schools have made it clear that 'the societal...
En rapport om børns skolestart i Danmark
This chapter addresses the meaning of children’s communities in the transition
from kindergarten to school. It is based on a research project where I studied how
children, who come from different kindergartens and meet in a school’s kindergarten
class, find their bearings together and establish, get involved in and develop
a community of practice (...
This paper takes point of departure in research approaching both empirical and theoretical challenges related to the study of very young children’s everyday lives in institutional settings. In this paper, we present an analysis of pedagogical practice about developing democracy and influence for children in a Danish nursery. On the one hand the pap...

Abstract:
This article is concerned with ways in which children's social lives appear to have meaning and with children's subjective orientation in the transition from kindergarten to school. The article presents the development of theoretical concepts for ways in which we can...
This article aims to show the need for theoretical concepts that contribute to the understanding of the dialectic between the common and shared lives of children (their children's communities) and learning processes in educational institutions. The article takes its point of departure in the framework of German-Danish Critical Psychology, where the...
