One of the main results of the DANUrB+ Project is an Urban Atlas (D+ Atlas) aiming to discover hidden urban values along the Danube. The atlas is developed as a print and digital version. First, the structure of the atlas is innovative in such a trans-Danubian context, where many areas are still not well-mapped or seen on a national level. Second,...

The landscape's idea of Prof Michael Mőcsényi (1919-2017) used by landscape architects determines the surroundings landscape environment as interaction of the nature and the human communities (society). In this sense, untouched nature doesn't exist on the Earth, because of people's presence, at least in form of atmosphere's pollution. Cultural land...
Settlements on the Danube have been founded on one of the banks of the river. Over the centuries, residents took advantages from the opportunities of the water, and the main impact shaping its structure, development and heritage remained the meeting of the river and the background landscape. In some places, however, the townspeople are not looking...
After World War II, during a relatively short, 45-year period, state socialism gained ground in the countries of Central-Eastern Europe. During this era, based on centrally formulated directives, a large number of decisions were made regarding the internal functioning of settlements and their relationships to each other. Among others, new towns wer...

We accept the city much as it is. We can criticize it; we can avoid it; and we can escape from it. But we can also accept that the city “writes” its daily history: with us, about us, by us, against us, and its writing is perennial and ephemeral, real and virtual. Tissue/texture, material crystallized form, on the one hand, and glance, poetry, narra...
The landscape approach of peripheries moves the accent on the need to understand the general health of the city and to treat its peripheral territories through an alternative method then the classic regulatory planning methods. The chapter argues by appealing to principles of homeopathic medicine, advancing the concept of “urbanopatie,” but not bef...
The purpose of this chapter is to investigate the relationship between the concepts of “culture” and “cultural landscape,” both regarding the actual urban space. As the semantic spheres of these terms overlap, there are many other almost similar approaches, but tributary to specific areas—as “cultural geography,” “cultural anthropology,” “cultural...
In the context of global criticism on urban sprawl, the questions which arises are: what can we do with the expansion forms already occurred in most part of our cities; can they be fully or partially integrated into the city? But first, which exactly are the common morphological features of urban expansion areas in large European cities, and (by co...

The main authors are doctoral students, but articles authored by other people can be accepted if they relate to urban planning. The agreement of the doctoral advisor and Chief Editor are required for publishing the articles; an essential condition is the strict observance of editing guidelines. Articles can be written in Romanian, English, French, or other widely spoken language, but the abstract and key words must be written in English.

The journal aims to bridge up the disciplines studying the human habitat (from civil engineering to architecture and urban and territorial planning) and its sustainable development (including the relationship between man-dominated and natural systems), integrated analysis and territorial management from a joint theoretical and practical (focused on planning) perspective. The journal strives to embed high-quality artwork, especially for the two disciplines focused on graphical content - architecture, urban and territorial planning.
