I am researching on the origins of this concept and its ambivlence.

As far as these platforms have built their own private regulation spaces and they cater for millions of users worldwide -thus, they hold a certain degree of market powe-r, their activity and the kind of relationhips between the platform users -both sides- and the platform ruler should be -or not- submitted to public regulation.

I am prospectively working on a paper on recent acquisitions by mobile platform leaders, and I am interested in knowing if someone else has faced the issue before, either from a theoretical or an empirical angle. Thanks in advance for helping.
