Research on topological interlocking (TI) assemblies indicates that the geometry of blocks plays a significant role in the performance of a configuration. The current TI generation methods can return assemblies of uniform antiprisms, tetrahedra, cubes, and octahedra. However, other shapes (both convex and concave) are well qualified for use in TI a...

Purpose Over the last year, the ascent of Generative AI (GenAI) has raised concerns about its impact on core skill development, such as problem-solving and algorithmic thinking, in Computer Science students. With the proliferation of these tools, educators must evaluate their role in academia, as neglecting this might culminate in a phenomenon we t...

As Generative AI (GenAI) models continue to gain prominence, a new frontier is emerging in the field of computer science education. Results from initial anonymous surveys reveal that nearly half (48.5%) of our students now turn to GenAI for academic assignments, highlighting its growing role in modern education. With educators facing challenges in...

Over the last year, the ascent of Generative AI (GenAI) has raised concerns about its impact on core skill development, such as problem-solving and algorithmic thinking, in Computer Science students. Preliminary anonymous surveys show that at least 48.5% of our students use GenAI for homework. With the proliferation of these tools, the academic com...

The NSF Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure has recognized the emerging and evolving need for platforms that fully integrate data and computing workflows, and is calling for research to deliver systems that provide a full spectrum of data services and also offer a coherent coupling with computing software. The Digital Environment to Enable Data-...

Excipients have always been a key input into pharmaceutical products, profoundly affecting product quality. Currently, most of our knowledge of excipient critical quality attributes is empirical, gained through experience, and shared through publications and other sources. The behavior of excipients is complicated, with many different failure modes...

Scientific workflows have emerged as a model for representing the complex processes carried out by scientists throughout their investigations, encompassing research activities corresponding to data collection, data flow, computation, output analysis, and all the ways these are used together to produce results. Existing infrastructures support eleme...

A topological interlocking configuration is an arrangement of pieces shaped in such a way that the motion of any piece is blocked by its neighbors. A variety of interlocking configurations have been proposed for convex pieces that are arranged in a planar space. Published algorithms for creating a topological interlocking configuration start from a...

We describe a generation method for Topological Interlocking Configurations based on checkerboards embedded in cylindrical geometry. The generation method returns two types of blocks: regular tetrahedra and quasi-tetrahedra. A quasi-tetrahedron is the shape of an overlapping tetrahedron after fitting it within its neighbors in the assembly.

DataCenterHub is a new solution for preserving, sharing, and discovering data produced by scientific research. Datasets are organized by experiments, with a simple common structure for metadata, file collections, and key parameters. Researchers associate annotations, reports, media, and measurements to each experiment, and interactive viewers inter...

Purpose Recommender systems collect information about users and businesses and how they are related. Such relation is given in terms of reviews and votes on reviews. User reviews gather opinions, rating scores and review influence. The latter component is crucial for determining which users are more relevant in a recommender system, that is, the us...

Current lifestyles and technologies have inspired new ways to manage home appliances free of restrictions previously imposed by distance and time. So-called home automation technologies allow users to control and schedule common home tasks, often without human intervention. Several types of home automation systems have been proposed and classified...

Node reservation in mobile Ad-hoc networks for data transmission is an area which has not been sufficiently investigated. The following monograph presents the formulation of the NORIA model, which is focused on the reservation of the intermediate nodes during a data transmission using intelligent agents. The packets that travel over the network are...
