Introduction
I am a palaeontologist and a database expert. Privately, I am intensively involved with theological topics. My publications are on theology, palaeontology (corals, stromatoporoids, brachiopods and reefs) and geology (Devonian, microfacies of limestone, weathering durability of building stone). A book on Christianity and evolution in Spanish language has been published in 2024: For details see https://montecarmelo.com/product/viaje-a-la-ciudad-eterna-en-la-busqueda-del-sentido-de-la-vida/

An attempt is made to determine when humans have had a soul. For this purpose, mind and soul are distinguished from each other. This clarification of terms makes it possible to criticise the emergentist view, which assumes that the soul arises naturally from the biological organism.
