Introduction
Mainly working on design and validation of automated driving systems in big-scale EU-funded research projects in the C-ITS domain. Apart from PoCs architecture designer, I have experience in cyber-security analysis for highly automated driving systems, vision-based environment perception systems, electric vehicles range prediction using ML and sensor-based M2M communication for IoT applications (incl. IP-based NG eCall). Find our publications on research gate and email me for sharing code.

Conference Paper

The majority of studies in scene classification have focused on still images, ignoring potentially informative temporal cues. This paper explores the combination of multi-scale appearance and motion features for classification of scenes captured from a moving vehicle under real-world driving. The objective is to classify unknown scenes in one out o...

Given the longitudinal average velocity and energy consumption of a Full Electric Vehicle (FEV) for any given part of a targeted road trip, this work solves the problem of online remaining range estimation, i.e., predicting, at any given travelled distance from the beginning of the trip, the actual distance the vehicle can still be driven before re...

In the "bag of visual words (BoVW)" representation each image is represented by an unordered set of visual words. In this paper, a novel approach to encode ordered spatial configurations of visual words in order to add context in the representation is presented. The proposed method introduces a bag of spatio-visual words representation (BoSVW) obta...

Seamless integration of new types of mobility such as those realized by Connected Automated Vehicles (CAVs) into the existing public transport service requires new service-oriented orchestration platforms. In this work, we present a framework for automated mobility of passengers and goods, realized by the service-oriented architecture of the EU-fun...

Collective perception (CP) enables connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) to exchange driving environment perception data in order to improve their on-board perception, essentially creating a redundant 'sensor' for the CAV and extending its (on-board) Field of View (FoV). The use of CP for mixed traffic environments that include CAVs requires a th...

Collective Perception (CP) allows connected autonomous vehicles to share and fuse processed sensor data via V2X communication. It can potentially allow for an increased object update rate, extended field-of-view awareness, and redundancy but it first requires a thorough evaluation and validation. Due to the CP's field testing practical challenges m...
Technical Report
Full-text available
This deliverable presents the results of the Technical and Traffic Evaluation, and the User and Acceptance Evaluation of the L3Pilot project. For these evaluations, vehicle and questionnaire data were collected during the piloting operations of automated driving functions (ADFs) in L3Pilot. Results were generated separately for different types of A...

Intention recognition and map-based trajectory generation for turning scenarios at urban intersections
Preprint
Full-text available
In this paper, a novel model for the cyber-security analysis of Level 3 (L3) Automated Driving (AD) systems is proposed by integrating aspects of functional safety. The model is built based on the state-of-the-art framework for cyber security analysis, known as Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA), which quantifies the likelihood and the impa...

The adoption of smart environments is becoming more and more important in many application scenarios such as healthcare, asset management and environmental monitoring. In emergency services, there are also very attractive use cases on next generation emergency services, presenting challenges that must be addressed in order to satisfy the requiremen...

In this paper, two state-of-the-art solutions to the simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) problem are implemented, depending on the environment type. A line feature-based solution using the extended Kalman filter is selected for structured environments, while for unstructured an incremental likelihood maximization algorithm using scan match...

The Internet of Things (IoT) potentials to transform our modern society into smart environments that facilitate living and boost all types of transactions are becoming more and more evident as the number of interconnections between the physical and the virtual world keeps increasing. Cyber-physical systems, wide end-to end connectivity and handling...
Conference Paper
Full-text available
This paper serves as a critical survey for automatic driving style recognition approaches and presents " work in progress " ideas that can be used for the development of intelligent context-adaptive driving assistance applications. Furthermore, a preliminary specification of a context-adaptive application that can be described by the following thre...

An overview of the state-of-the-art on semantics extraction from images is presented. In this survey, we present the relevant approaches in terms of content representation as well as in terms of knowledge representation. Knowledge can be represented in either implicit or explicit fashion while the image is represented in different levels, namely, l...

The interactIVe project (1) addresses the development and evaluation of next-generation safety systems for Intelligent Vehicles, based on sensor fusion, situation awareness algorithms, and active intervention. Safety technologies have shown outstanding capabilities for supporting the driver in hazardous situations. Despite their effectiveness, curr...
