The current study was designed to evaluate the antioxidant and anticancer potential of ethanolic leaf extract of Bauhinia foveolata Dalzell. (EEBF) and its toluene, ethyl acetate and methanolic biofractions viz., TFBF, EFBF and MFBF. Phytoconstituents were screened by adopting established procedures. Total phenolic and flavonoid content were assess...
Desmodium oojeinensis, which belongs to the family Fabaceae, is an endangered plant native to the Himalayan and sub-Himalayan tract. The current work aimed to carry out physicochemical, phytochemical screening, isolation, and in vitro cytotoxic activity using MCF-7 and A-549 cell lines by using the sulforhodamine B method. The physicochemical param...
Microsponges being the polymeric drug delivery systems consist of porous microspheres that can entrap a wide range of active ingredients. Boswellic acid is a pentacyclic triterpenoid having anti-inflammatory, anti-hypertensive, anti-cancer activities. The aim of the study was to develop, characterize and formulate microsponge delivery for topical a...
Bauhinia foveolata Dalzell is an endemic tree, native to Southwest India (the Western Ghats). 13-Docosenamide was isolated from ethyl acetate fraction, and quercetin (1), isorhamnetin (2), and odoratin-7-glucoside (3) were isolated from butanol fraction of leaves. A spectroscopic analysis, including mass spectra and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)...
The aim of the present investigations was to fabricate and prepare silver nanoparticles from the root bark of Aphanamixis polystachya available in Western Ghats of India and also to assess their antioxidant, cytotoxic and apoptotic activity. The root bark extract of the plant, A. polystachya was used for the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles...
Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine with historical roots in the Indian subcontinent. In Ayurveda, materials from natural sources are being used for the preparation of Ayurvedic formulation. This includes plants, minerals/metals and animals. Rasashastra is a branch of Ayurvedic medicine which deals with formulations containing minerals/meta...
Nanoscience and Nanotechnology are having a wide range of applications such as green chemistry, biology, medicinal chemistry, physics, materials science and engineering. Over the past few decades, nanoparticles of noble metals such as silver (bio synthesized) exhibited significantly distinct physical, chemical and biological properties. To overcome...
Herbal medicine is one of the oldest medicines in India, which heals many diseases as mentioned in the Ayurveda and homeopathy. Tinospora cordifolia (Willd.) Miers. (Guduchi or Amrita) is one among the medicinal plants that has been used by Indian folk practitioners since ages to treat many diseases. In India, the genus Tinospora consists of four s...
Plant medicine is the oldest system of medicine in India known as Ayurveda which is gaining greater importance in recent years. In this system crude drugs are used, which may be adulterated by similar kind of plants which may be harmful. To check this adulteration pharmacognostic analysis is more reliable compared to other methods. For identificati...

Medicinal plants have curative properties due to the presence of various complex chemical substance of different composition, which are found as secondary plant metabolites in one or more parts of these plants. In present study, in vitro α-amylase inhibition was used to evaluate hypoglycemic effects of various extracts of Zanthoxylum rhetsa (Roxb)...
Indirect regeneration of plant was obtained through organogenesis in leaf callus cultures of Ionidium suffruticosum. Leaf explants were found to be best suited for callus induction on MS with 2, 4-D (0.5 and 1.0 mg/l). Maximum shoot regeneration was obtained in MS supplemented with Kn (4.0 mg/l) alone and NAA (0.4 mg/l) with Kn (2.0 m/l). The in vi...
The present study deals with the macroscpical, microscopical and preliminary phytochemical investigation on Monochoria vaginalis P. The transverse section shows in the root, the presence of cork, cortex, xylem, phloem, pith etc. The diagnostic features of the roots are the presence of fibers associated with vessels, calcium oxalates, and xylem vess...
Successive chloroform, methanol and water extracts of bark and leaves of Albizzia lebbeck were tested for its in vitro mast cell stabilizing effect against compound 48/80. Methanolic extract of leaf and methanolic and water extracts of bark have shown maximum activity comparable to that of disodium chromoglycate.
