Description
  • My Ph.D. research work is focused on the development of novel nanostructured materials for the removal of arsenic from aqueous solution. In the meantime, I have worked on a BRNS-sponsored project that focuses on the development of a low-cost household arsenic removal filter for rural use.

This work describes the preparation of core shell structured zero valent manganese (ZVM) for sequestration of total arsenic from drinking water. The material was synthesized using ultra-sonication assisted hydrothermal route and the prepared material was characterized by using various analytical instruments such as FTIR, XRD, FE-SEM, EDS, AFM, TEM,...
Article
Consumption of arsenic contaminated water induces and aggravates major health problems in humans. In this report, we have successfully synthesized nanostructured Zr/Cu composite oxide (NZCO) by ultrasonically assisted hydrothermal process for total arsenic sequestration. Various batch experiments were performed with NZCO to determine its adsorption...
Article
This work presents the synthesis of hybrid core-shell structured Fe(0)@Fe oxides and Mn(0)@Mn oxides nanocomopsites (ZVIM) by ultrasonically assisted hydrothermal process for decontamination of arsenic in groundwater. Our material possesses a unique core-shell structure with zero-valent Fe and Mn in the core encapsulated by thin layer of their resp...
Article
Arsenic contamination of groundwater is of great concern as its consumption induces major health problems in human body. Thus, development of effective material for the removal of total arsenic from aqueous solution is of utmost importance. In this study, we report the synergistic effect of CuO nanoparticles and boehmite as an absorbent material (C...

A household arsenic removal filter has been developed by using naturally available materials for rural areas. Five filter units have been installed in different arsenic contaminated regions of Jharkhand, India. The developed filter is easy to use and does not require electricity and overhead storage tank. It can easily provide 10 L of arsenic free...
Article
The present research was performed with a primary objective to study the performance of different MnO2 polymorphs for oxidative transformation of As(III). Five different MnO2 polymorphs with distinct morphologies were hydrothermally synthesized by altering the precursor and synthesis condition. The As(III) oxidative reactivity of MnO2 polymorphs, a...
Article
Carbon nanostructures and metal nanoparticles based nanohybrid materials have been established as one of advantageous materials for various applications. Here, we present hydrothermal and sol-gel process at low temperature for the synthesis of (3-Aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES)-ZnO-multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) mesoporous nanohybrid ma...
Article
Pea peel waste carbon loaded with zirconium is used as an engineered biochar material for adsorption of fluoride from aqueous solution. The prepared adsorbent was characterized and the material degradation kinetics were studied using thermogravimetric analysis. Adsorption kinetics follow both pseudo-second order and intra-particle diffusion model....
Article
The present investigation reports the preparation and defluoridation efficiency of Al2O3/ZrO2 xerogel. The material was prepared by environment friendly sol-gel technique using respective metal salts as precursors. FTIR spectra indicated presence of bridged structure (Zr - O - Al) in the material and decrease in intensity of hydroxyl group vibratio...
