Introduction
My research is located at the convergence of environment change and rural societal dynamics focusing on the social and ecological dimensions of land-use change in swidden/jhum landscapes in NE India and similar mountain landscapes and societies. I also study its consequences for subsistence agroecology, socioeconomic differentiation, well-being, and livelihood sustainability. It is based on RS-GIS techniques and qual-quant social science research methods. I am an ecologist by early training.

I am looking to understand modifications that have been made in the new western models of agricultural restoration techniques (e.g. those that re-introduced fallowing as a key component) since there has been some effort to wean away from the long history of monoculture farming and soil productivity decline - at least in a few locations in Europe and so on. What are some good articles/reviews/case studies that are out there to understand these new western models better from perspectives of agriculture productivity, biodiversity etc.? Who are the good researchers in this area? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Specific interest is shifting cultivation mosaic landscapes, and estimation of density/occupancy of species in these areas
