He is in the academia for over 28 years supervised a number of theses at the Higher Diploma, MSc and PhD levels at different Universities and has published 90 articles in scientific journals of international repute. He published his first book of Discrete Mathematics (2006). Khamis worked as an associate Professor and senior researcher at the Department of Family and Community medicine at the University of Dammam (Formal King Faisal University) in KSA between 2009-2014.
