Conference Paper
Digital engineering (DE) enables innovation, reduces development time, and realises efficiencies in the design and development of the next generation of aerospace capability. A consistent and accepted set of standards and interface definitions are a critical element to making DE work. Over recent years, the Defence Science and Technology Group (DST...

This paper presents a numerical study of vorticity generation around a 2D airfoil during the starting and stopping phases of motion. The study focuses on a single NACA0012 airfoil of unit chord at 4° angle of attack where the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations are solved using a spectral element DNS code. Peaks in the boundary vorticity flux o...

There are several competing concepts of multifunctional hybrid aircraft which combine both vertical takeoff and landing and traditional fixed wing flight. Because of its relatively simple layout and reduced risk of mechanical failure, a QuadPlane layout was selected an a potential candidate for the 2018 Medical Express Challenge. Design work for su...

Purpose: To assess short-term creatinine changes as predictors of acute kidney injury (AKI) when used alone and in combination with AKI risk factors. Methods: In this prospective cohort study, we identified all creatinine measurements from frequent point-of-care arterial blood gas measurements from ICU admission until AKI. We evaluated the predi...

In this prospective cohort study, we assessed all the creatinine values from ABGs and laboratory biochemistry results in critically ill patients. We calculated the small, short-term creatinine increases between creatinine values during the patient’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission until the development of KDIGO-defined AKI or ICU discharge or d...

OpenVSP Tutorial created for Monash UAS. Also highly applicable to MAE3402 - Aerospace Design Project and MAE4410 Fight Vehicle Design. Brief overview, creating components, mass properties, usage of VSPAero, parasitic drag, wave drag and interpretation of results.
Conference Paper

While the drag of aircraft cruising at low reynolds numbers is relatively well understood, the dramatic increase in popularity of drones has lead to a variety of novel, multifunctional configurations which lack rigorous aerodynamic analysis. One recent configuration, QuadPlane, aims to provide an efficient cruise with vertical takeoff and landing b...

Author's Note: Summary presented is V3 of Aircraft Reiteration Work conducted. Note the final configuration was V5.5. Abstract: The purpose of this design iteration is to provide a viable prototype to be constructed and tested over the 2017 Winter Holidays. Every effort has been made to reuse available components to reduce production costs and max...
