Nowadays uncertain and volatile environment makes it imperative for companies to base their competitive advantage on people. However, HR-related decisions are usually based on intuition and managers are shortsighted in terms of good practices others are implementing. With the aim of providing companies HRM-related knowledge, based on empirical data, we have developed the BATERATZEN project in the period 2010-2019. In BATERATZEN: 1) we make a diagnosis of the company in terms of HR-related variables based on a validated survey questionnaire; 2) we complement the quantitative results with narratives gathered from the workforce employing Group Model Building (GMB) methodology in order to better understand the rationale behind the numbers; 3) we help companies plan an action based on the knowledge we have extracted from the accumulated database; and finally, 4) based on the information gathered in the three previous steps, we show the company their need to act and we accompany them in the process. Nowadays, the database has approximately 100,000 employee surveys of 900 companies from which various are of longitudinal nature. This has enabled to empirically demonstrate not only the positive effect of HRM on employee well-being but also the financial impact of HRM in terms of positive influence on organizational productivity and absenteeism. With these empirical evidence, we help companies to overcome barriers to change showing them their need to act and the advantages of it. Our aim is to use HR analytics as an evidence-based approach for providing managers different tracks to make informed decision-making on the people side of the company for company success. We do not just focus on data; we also intervene and accompany companies during their changing processes in order to have a real impact. See more at www.bateratzen.net. This project has been promoted by the Gipuzkoa regional government since its beginning.
