The objectives of the study are: 1) To compare the response of the zooplankton communities and of the main groups and key species to climate changes in three areas that cover the entire latitudinal range within the Northeast Atlantic Shelves Province (NECS). 2) To determine if latitude can explain differences in the magnitude and patterns of change of the plankton ecosystem between the areas under study. 3) To determine if the degree of eutrophication can explain differences in the magnitude and patterns of change of the plankton ecosystem between systems under the same climate regime.
