PowerPoint presentation as part of the symposium, Empirical Validation for Smartphone and Mobile Device "Apps" at the 2013 American Psychological Association Convention in Honolulu, Hawaii.

This experiment explored knowledge of four types of semantic relations (superordinate category, part, property, and function) in Alzheimer's disease (AD) subjects and age- and education-matched controls. Moderate AD subjects showed the greatest disruption on functional relations, intermediate disruption on part and property relations, and the least...
Thesis
Semantic memory includes knowledge about the use of language, memory for words, their meanings, as well as the relations among concepts (e.g., knowing that a saw is a tool, has a blade, is sharp, and can be used for cutting). The present studies explored the impact of dementia of the Alzheimer-type (DAT) on one aspect of semantic memory, functional...

To examine the perceptual processes that support reading and memory, we examined the effect of the polarity of both reading text and word-stem completion task (black text on white paper vs. white text on black background). Subjects read a passage of 380 words, in both polarities. They then were asked to associate cities with states for two minutes....

Participants made judgments about the relative salience of category exemplars (e.g., fruit: apple or grape) or parts (e.g., plane: wings or seats). Mildly affected Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients were as accurate but slower than normal controls, and their response times increased more for related (e.g., apple, grape, or fig) than unrelated (e.g.,...

Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients and elderly controls verified semantic attributes of common concepts. For each attribute tested (superordinate category, part, property, and function), typicality of the semantic relation was varied, as well as the order in which relations were tested (e.g., category-concept or concept-category). Like controls, AD...

Patients. —Men and women with probable Alzheimer's disease, at least 50 years old, mildly to moderately im...
Article
We describe an in vivo method for the quantitative analysis of human necrotical anatomy. The technique allows unfolded regions of functional and morphological interest to be measured planimetrically. Two-dimensional cortical maps and surface area determinations derived from magnetic resonance images of monozygotic twins are presented. In addition,...

Question
I wanted to get feedback from people who have used Prolific and MTurk (or other services) for participant recruitment.
Question
I'm compiling a list of exemplary cognitive psychology and neuropsychology papers based on the quality of writing and was hoping for recommendations from others. George Miller's papers are at the top of my list, however, I'm not looking for famous or classic papers, but papers that are exceptionally well-crafted and well-written.
Question
I would appreciate feedback from others about software they have used in the processing and statistical analysis of fMRI data - pros and cons are particularly helpful.
Question
I wanted to get feedback (cost/benefit analysis) from others conducting fMRI studies and their solutions for storing/backing up data.
Question
My psychological society is starting a journal and have chosen me as the editor-in-chief. I have been researching various open access publishers and would appreciate feedback from others.
Question
I would like to know the factors that influenced your decision to publish in OA journals. Also, which type do you prefer - green, gold, or hybrid?
Question
I am familiar with MyExperience (EMS experiments) and OpenSesame (cognitive psychological experiments). Are there any others in development?
Question
I would like to know how others view NIMH's statement about dumping the DSM-5 and the development of their own nosology. (The link leads to NIMH's statement.)
