Obesity related conditions, predominantly fatty-liver, cardiovascular disease and diabetes, constitute significant health issues in the western world. Therefore there is a necessity to decipher pathological processes caused by obesity in order to develop strategies to amelioration the resulting burden to healthcare. Towards this we have identified a role for the immune protein kinase R (PKR) in modulating obesity-related conditions in a murine model of diet-induced obesity.
