Retro leisure time stands out as a concept which have been mentioned in the literature by pointing to nostalgia themed leisure
activities but has not been defined yet in the literature. Performing an activity that exists in an individual's own or previous past
as a leisure activity can be expressed as the equivalent of retro leisure time concept. This expression can be deducted from “Retro
Festivals”, “Retro Nights” that came to life or the time spent with retro products. In spite of technological diversity and
possibilities, individuals who listen to music with gramophone show a retro-based tendency during their free time. Detailed
description in the literature of this retro-leisure trend in the current life may pave the way for leisure time behaviors to be handled
in a different dimension. It is thought that the treatment of recreational activities, which can be defined as useful activities
performed by the individual in his spare time, in a different dimension will provide benefits to the literature and the field. In this
axis, it is aimed to determine the retro leisure activities planned by local governments and to determine the reasons for
participation in these activities and to introduce the concept of retro leisure time to the literature. For this purpose, the reasons
and experiences of participants of retro leisure activity that interpreted as a phenomenon, will be tried to be revealed within the
framework of their individual gaze. Phenomenological design, which is a qualitative research design, and interpretive
phenomenology approach will be adopted. Data will be collected through observation, semi-structured interview and focus
group interview techniques. It is planned to form a group of participants by observing the retro leisure activities provided by
local governments. Interviews with the group of participants to conduct interviews at least twice due to the nature of the
phenomenological research, will be carried out to the last stage considering the saturation point. At the end of the research, it is
aimed to reveal the types of retro leisure activities and a detailed description as well as the reasons for participation in these
activities.
