“Sağlıklı Kent Mezitli” projesi, Mersin Üniversitesinden uzmanlar tarafından 2017 yılında Mezitli İlçesine yönelik kent sağlık profilinin çıkartılması ve kent sağlık gelişim planının hazırlanması aşamalarını içeren bir projedir. Haziran-Eylül 2017 tarihleri arasında farklı kurum ve kuruluşlardan temin edilen bilgi ve belgeler ve aynı zamanda çalışmaya özel kurgulanan araştırmalar kullanılarak hazırlanan veri tabanları bağlamında Mezitli İlçesi'nde sağlığın doğrudan ve dolaylı belirleyicilerine ilişkin tespitler yapılmıştır. Bu tespitler, Mezitli İlçesi Kent Sağlık Profili'nde bir araya getirilmiştir. Eylül 2017’de Mezitli İlçesi Kent Sağlık Profili kapsamında tespit edilen verilere dayanarak analiz ve sentez çalışmaları yürütülmüş; bu çalışmalar sonucunda Mezitli İlçesi'nde, sağlığın bir bütün olarak iyileştirilmesine yönelik olarak Ekim-Aralık 2017 tarihleri arasında Mezitli İlçesi Kent Sağlık Gelişim Planı çalışmaları yürütülmüştür. “Sağlıklı Kent Mezitli” projesi, ilgili kurum ve kuruluşların görüşleri alınıp, görüşler doğrultusunda güncellendikten sonra Mart 2018 tarihinde tamamlanmıştır. --- Data and documents are obtained from different institutions and organizations between June-September 2017, and databases are prepared by using researches including surveys and interviews specially designed for the Healthy City Mezitli Project regarding the direct and indirect determinants of health. These findings are brought together in the Mezitli City Health Profile Report. Analysis were carried out based on the data prepared within the scope of Mezitli City Health Profile; as a result of which, Mezitli Health Development Plan studies are initiated in the Mezitli District for the improvement of health as a whole. As part of the development plan studies, the World Health Organization basic documents were used in order to define the main frame of the Development Plan. The analysis resulted from the Mezitli City Health Profile study was used to understand problems and potentials of the District; and also to determine the strengths and weaknesses of Mezitli District and to identify opportunities and threats. In order to propose effective and accurate actions in the Development Plan, and also in order to determine the priority areas for using public resources efficiently, the whole District is divided into character zones showing and neighborhoods exhibiting rural, urban and transitional (both urban and rural) characteristics were determined by examining the socio-economic and demographic variables of the neighborhoods in the Mezitli District.
