Introduction
Alfonso M. García Hernández is Senior lecturer of Nursing Theory at the Universidad of La Laguna (Tenerife, Spain). He graduated in Nursing (1983) and in Anthropology (2000). He obtained his PhD in Anthropology from the University of La Laguna. His doctoral thesis is the first study in Canary Islands devoted to narratives of parent’s grief and its meanings. His main interests in research are end-of-life care, dying, grief and bereavement.
