A system for creating the bilateral trade flow between a country pair equal to zero. You provide the data, tell get_zerotradeflow() which variables are of interest and it expands the base by creating the bilateral zero trade flow. The bases on the flow of trade between countries only report positive trade (greater than zero), however, for some anal...

In this chapter, basic concepts of machine learning in Python will be addressed in order to predict the values of buildings for a given city. In this sense, it starts by importing the basic libraries to perform a visual analysis of the data. To exemplify, we use the database of real estate prices in the city of Boston, available in the sklearn pack...

Under the traditional classification into primary, secondary and tertiary sectors, the value of Agriculture Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is underestimated since the products generated upstream (inputs, implements and machines) and downstream (processing, transformation and distribution) are not computed in this statistic. In order to solve this pro...

In a recent study, Figueiredo & Loures (2016) demonstrate that Mercosur encourages the entry of new products into the export agenda of its member countries. Thus, this paper analyzes whether export experience within Mercosur affects the likelihood of market creation for new non-marketed products, i.e. an effect Spillover for third countries. Using...
Code
It presents the computational routines for the generation of the base as well as for the estimation of the spillover effect of Mercosur.
Code
It presents computational routines for the selection of products that have become part of the exporting list of member countries after the creation of Mercosur.

This article analyzes a new framework in the international trade literature, namely: the effects of “Regional Trade Agreements” – RTAs – on the imbalance of bilateral trade, understood as the share of net exports in trade bilateral gross. The results indicate that all types of trade agreements are associated with an average fall of -3:95% in the tr...

This paper investigates the impact of international trade on the economic growth of a group of developing countries. For this, the structural model proposed by Anderson et al. (2014) is used. The results indicate that growth is stimulated by bilateral trade. Counterfactual exercises suggest that trade liberalization, whether it results from reduced...

In this chapter of thesis we seek for a solution to the problem of endogeneity (simultaneous relation) present in the estimation of the models of the Theory of Trade Terms is searched. The proposed alternative takes into consideration the dynamics of trade relations and is robust to the presence of endogeneity, trade observations equal to zero and...
Code
Presents the computational routines for the expansion of the bilateral trade flow base, that is, the creation of the bilateral flow equal to zero, as well as for the creation of the graphs presented in the article.

This article uses a database with a high level of disaggregation in order to measure the impact of Mercosur on the improvement of the new business relationships. So that, it will consider the extensive margin definition of trade developed by Baldwin & Di Nino (2008), namely: the number of products that did not belong to export products before signi...

In order to measure the level of economic efficiency of farmers in Minas Gerais the present study used the parametric approach of Stochastic Frontier Analysis-SFA-and admitted to two assumptions for the asymmetric distribution of error: a) normal-truncated and b) half-normal. The source of information contained in the Agricultural Censuses of 1996...

The aim of this study is to evaluate the spatial dependence of the evolution of the Municipal Human Development Index (MHDI) in Brazilian northeast, between 2000 and 2010, seeking to identify patterns of clusters of high and low growth, and thus verify if the evolution of this indicator is subject to spatial interaction. Furthermore, it was analyze...

This paper studies the border effect in the Brazilian international trade. We consider a structural gravity model developed by Anderson e Wincoop (2003) and the empirical specifications proposed by Baldwin e Taglioni (2006, 2011). The econometric method utilized in this paper is robust against several identification problems such as a large number...

The present article estimates a production function for the Gaucho agribusiness based on data from the 2006 Census. Based on this estimated production function, we obtain complementarity and substitution relations between the main productive factors. Notably, inelastic complementarity relationships are obtained between area and work; work and tract...

This study seeks to ascertain the impact of a trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union on the production and export of 19 aggregate sectors as well as the prices of primary production factors, welfare, GDP and government spending. The work uses the General Equilibrium Analysis Project (PAEG) 4.0 model, allowing the analysis of the results for each of the five large Brazilian regions. In both scenarios there was a greater production and export of agricultural products by Mercosur and of technology-intensive products by the European Union. In addition, it was noted that with the insertion of Brazil in the agreement there was an increase of well-being and the GDP for the two economic blocks. In addition, the land factor has become relatively scarce in Brazil and the rest of Mercosur, becoming more valued.

This article analyzes a new framework in the international trade literature, namely: the effects of “Regional Trade Agreements” – RTAs – on the imbalance of bilateral trade, understood as the share of net exports in trade bilateral gross. The results indicate that all types of trade agreements are associated with an average fall of -3:95% in the trade imbalance. In addition, the reported values are in line with the results of Baier et al. (2014) that there is an accumulation effect of the impacts of RTAs. Finally, the analyzes considering a generic measure for the RTAs underestimated the effects of the agreements.
