Objective: This study aimed to evaluate concentrations of metals in the tissues of the midgut gland and muscles of males and females of Callinectes sapidus and C. bocourti from the estuarine region of the São Francisco River. Theoretical Framework: A critical aspect of the introduction of chemical substances into aquatic systems is the bioaccumulat...
Human activities have major impacts on all compartments of the environment. Pollution in all its origins acts acutely and chronically and its impacts can be destructive of the entire environmental balance. Environmental Education encompasses new perspectives for new knowledge, contributing to the construction of responses to environmental problems,...
The aim of this work was to identify and analyze the saline tolerance throughout the white mangrove propagules of L. racemosa germination, a halophyte and monotypic species, to contribution to the mangrove restoration. A total of 450 propagules were subjected to different salinities. The propagules were divided into three replicates (r) of 30 propa...
The aim of this study is the qualitative and quantitative characterization of solid waste and its relationship with predatory fishing in the mangrove ecosystem of Mundaú Lagoon, Alagoas, Brazil.
Mangroves are important coastal ecosystems, situated at the interface between terrestrial and marine environments, and are characteristic of tropical and subtropical regions. They are considered to be one of the most productive ecosystems in the world, responsible for providing a variety of ecosystem services. The characterization of its structure...
Mangroves provide niches for diverse groups of animals that use it in their feeding, breeding, spawning and growing, and serve as coastal protectors against erosion by reducing the force of the tides. The Mangrove Ecological Reserve of Lagoa do Roteiro
in the state of Alagoas is of great importance for the preservation of wildlife (flora and
fauna)...
The mangrove is a transition coastal ecosystem between the terrestrial and the marine environments, occurring in areas that can have estuaries, bays and lagoons, and presents favorable conditions to feeding, protecting and reproduction of many animal species, been considered an important transformer of nutrients into organic matter and a good and s...
Portunid crabs play the role of top predators in aquatic environments, affecting the size and abundance structure of their prey populations. The objective of this study was to evaluate temporally the natural feeding of Callinectes bocourti in the fluvial-marine plain of São Francisco river through analysis of the contents of the anterior intestines...
The genus Callinectes is represented by six species in the Brazilian coast. They practise a key role in the trophic relationships of benthic communities, as a food resource for other aquatic organisms and coastal birds, as bioindicators of environmental quality and are an important food resource for communities in coastal regions. Knowing the repro...
Callinectes bocourti A. Milne Edwards, 1879 is an important resource from an ecological and economic point of view and several studies related to its biology, morphology, growth, among others were carried out. The study of its abundance brings information about the structure of a given population and the study of growth reveals population patterns...
Natural diet of the blue crab Callinectes sapidus (Decapoda, Portunidae) in the Patos Lagoon estuary area, Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The Southern Brazil blue crab Callinectes sapidus Rathbun, 1869 is the most abundant crab of the genus Callinectes in Patos Lagoon estuary. Although this species is widely distributed throughout the Patos...
