Introduction
My Research Interests are in User-Centered Design, Emotional Design and NeuroDesign, to even more investigate the user's cognitive and affective response. I'm interested in the potentials opportunities derived by adopting tools and methods of Cognitive Neurosciences, applied in the Emotional Design. During my PhD I've been part of a multidisciplinary research group that is conducting researches about NeuroMarketing, and by both a literature review and partecipating to their laboratories, I started my research, that I published as Phd Thesis the 5th of March 2019. In the reseach, I developed tools to support the design activities for the designers that are intetested in taking into account the user's response also measured by means of neurophisiological indexes. www.alessiopaoletti.info

Cognitive neuroscience can measure a user’s neurophysiological activities during a product experience with portable and noninvasive tools. The data collected is summarized in three indices, which express the user’s affective and cognitive states during the performance of a specific action within an authentic context. This data can represent additio...

Design research has provided numerous theories and tools on design’s emotional factor, all derived from psychology research. Today, however, research in neuroscience, together with technological developments in new instruments, promises new potential. The amount of data that cognitive neurosciences provide can describe a user’s reaction, but this i...
Book

The study evaluates whether it’s possible to interpret the neurophysiological responses of the User Experience from the design perspective. Cognitive Neurosciences are providing an increasing body of knowledge about the user response, however this information is dense and not easily accessible or usable for designers. Therefore it is necessary to p...

With the goal to improve the Product Design tools, in the Emotional Design approaches, we investigated if the designers can interpret neurophysiological responses analyzed by means of Cognitive Neurosciences’ tools. For this purpose, and to facilitate the dialogue between these two disciplines, we defined the tool and method named AlPha Matrix and...

Research starts with retracing the steps that have brought Ergonomics and Human Factors to evolve beyond usability. It addresses issues related to the emotional relationship that can be established between the user and the product, in the User-Centered Design paradigm. Therefore, the Research reviews the literature of the Design Research for Emotio...
Article
The following image galleries investigate the direct relationship between Design and Science: they reflect on those design moments in which Design was influenced by scientific research without intermediate interlocutors. Making a clear separation between the disciplines and fields of knowledge is, to date, less obvious and perhaps even anachronisti...
Conference Paper
