I would like to do a Latent Class Analysis on the topic of poisoning deaths. I have data on substances in the blood, F diagnoses, gender, age... The problem is that I don't know how to group the substances into a reasonable number of groups. For example, fentanyl, should it be separately or with all opioids. Should Z drugs be included separately or with benzodiazepines. The recommendation is not to include substances that are less than 5% in the sample. Most of these substances when you put them in the sample are from 10 to 20%. On the other hand, fentanyl is very fatal on its own. You don't need to combine it with other substances a lot to cause death. If anyone has any advice, feel free to write here. In addition, should I put sex, age, F diagnosis in the LCA or as covariates in further analysis.
Dear all,
I have a question about standard population?
Is Segi population outdated? I have a time series from 2000 onward.
Regarding who 2000-2025 population from this link https://seer.cancer.gov/stdpopulations/world.who.html , should I use ''Round to integer'' column instend of ''WHO World Standard (%)'' ?
Thanks in advance.

Big data, big problems: Why scientists should refrain from using Google Trends - Alexandra Franzén, 2023 (sagepub.com)
I plan to analyse some trends in searching google on some diseases and conditions in one separete country. Therefore, my fist idea is to use variation of term ''diabetes mellitus''. However, when I start typing, GT offers me Diabetes (disease) in English. If I'm not mistaken, the disease corresponds to the term Topic? The topic, if I understood Google's vague explanations correctly, includes all possible searches related to that term, including language variations, special symbols, typos, jargon...
Since I'm interested in the trend for one broad area (Diabetes), do you agree that this term Diabetes (disease) in English is better than a specific keyword?
Hi, all.
I would like to know, how do you analyise data from the national registry that collects data on some diseases and conditions?
In past, people used MS Access a lot. Is the R a proper solution nowadays? Or do you suggest some other tools? I am looking for tool that could provides outputs in spreadsheet.
Dear colleague,
I am looking for advice regarding my research project. I collect number of patients with diagnosis and number of patinet with those diagnosis who were screened for sertain conditions each year 2019/2020/2021 (for instance blood glucose among diabetes patients). Therefore, those two numbers provide a rate for specific year. My idea is to compare those rates between years. However, I am not sure what kind of test to use? Fluctuation between years in denominator were not so big beyond natural flow. But, I also think that someone who skipp a screening one year has to intention to skipp it again.
Any other idea and solutions are welcome
Thnaks for your replays.
Best,
Aleksandar
