L2 writing has been recently one of the major areas of interest (Leki et al., 2008; Manchón & Matsuda, 2016), with much of the research focusing on the written product, the language learning affordances of written corrective feedback (WCF) (Bitchener & Storch, 2016), or L2 writing processes from an SLA perspective (Gánem-Gutiérrez & Gilmore, 2018)....

Education was turned upside down after the outbreak of COVID-19, which pushed university systems to deplete innovative teaching and learning modalities as a consequence of this situation (Marnoni et al., 2020). The Spanish university context opted for manifold ways in which the teaching process was going to be conducted, with the most preferred met...

This paper will review theoretical and selected empirical developments in the study of a crucial dimension within the sociocultural approach to language learning: communicative tasks in the EFL context. I will explore the origins of research preoccupations in this domain by focusing on key theoretical concepts of communicative tasks. Building on th...

English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching has traditionally hinged on the fourth linguistic skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) in addition to the cross-sectional nature of grammar. Firstly, the inquiry into the role of reading has given rise to extensive research in both the L1 (e.g. Doolittle et al., 2006) and L2 (e.g. Anderson,...

Oral production in an L2 proves to be more cognitively demanding than, for instance, written production given the immediateness of the speech act. Hence, the role of pre-task planning has been a matter of interest in the scholarly literature (e.g. Bygate & Samuda, 2005; Ortega, 1999) since previous empirical research has pointed to its effectivenes...

The outbreak of COVID-19 brought about a series of methodological changes in education, pushing universities across the world to adapt their teaching and learning systems to the situation (Ali, 2020; Marnoni et al., 2020). In this regard, these systems have varied depending on the university. In the case of the Spanish context, some universities op...

Teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) at higher education has faced the necessity of innovation at the level of content-teaching, and the impetus for reorienting the communicative competence. Undergraduate students enrolled in English modules within the BA degree in Primary Education at Spanish universities are expected to draw on specific v...

Question
I have been working very recently with Inputlog as a tool to obtain data from writing processes. Facing now the analysis, doubts have arisen. Can anyone suggest me any research paper or guide me on what data I should take as a basis to study the temporal dimension of writing?
I have been looking at different research papers exploring this issue, but none of them has given me clear indications of the statistical measures to use.
Thanks a million. Any help is more than welcome.
Question
So far, structurally-based methods have been overlooked owing to their rigidity in the teaching-learning process. Nonetheless, with the advent of eclectic methods involving structural approaches together with communicative-based features, the question has arisen whether it would be possible to unearth a pattern of activity sequencing within materials devoted to Task-Based Approach syllabi.
In this regard, is there any scientific literature already written on the topic? Do you think a research could be carried out?
Question
I would like to know if there is any research carried out regarding activity sequencing in phrasal verbs' materials. I have been looking for it but have not found anything specifically related to phrasal verbs. Thanks a lot!
