Biomachining processes that use microorganisms as the tool to remove metal from a workpiece may have environmental advantages. These processes, used innovatively, will be an alternative technology for micro machining. The objective of this study is to investigate the feasibility of biomachining processes in fabricating micro-size features on pure c...
An alternative method is developed to remove metal from a work piece by combining a digital lithography system with biomachining. The purpose of this system is to obtain extra advantages as compared to conventional micro-fabrication processes currently used in practice. The use of microorganisms as a cutting tool in biomachining can eliminate the u...
Revision total knee arthroplasties cause performed aseptic loosening, instability, and polyethylene wear. Separation or removal of the femoral component has been observed and this has the potential to severely damage the polyethylene component. In most cases 90% of the patients examined experienced significant medial or lateral condylar lift at som...
Controlling the artificial hand using the mind is a dream for many people who had lost their limbs. Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technology is hoped in making these things happen by connecting commands and responses to the brain as information in the control system. However, the complexity of the EEG signal becomes a challenge in realizing. The u...
Paramedian Forehead Flap is one of the complex surgical techniques that requires high competence from residents who wish to specialize in plastic surgery, due to several considerations that must be considered such as the use of the side used as a flap and blood supply. The facial simulators that are anatomically accurate are sold at quite high pric...
Vibration assisted machining (VAM) is one of the hybrid machining processes for improving the machined surface quality. VAM performance is mainly influenced by the combination of machining and vibration control parameters, where surface roughness value (Ra) became the benchmarking indicator. It is difficult to determine the optimum parameter combin...
At the time of prayer, most Muslims kneel with fully extended limbs (between 150° and 165°). Meanwhile, incidents such as hyperflexion in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) implant outside their designated configuration can lead wear or fracture of the polyethylene component. In this study, polyethylene component of posterior-stabilized right knee joint...
Total
knee arthroplasty (TKA) implants are becoming an interesting subject in implant
design research and development activities due to their complexity. They should
be able to facilitate knee movement while supporting body weight during daily
usage. Meanwhile, incidents such as hyperflexion in TKA implants outside their
designated configuration ca...
Additive manufacturing is a technology employed to create a three-dimensional object taking advantage of a Computer-Aided Design. This technology is also known as 3-D printing. This technology can be applied to many kinds of materials such as plastic, metals, alloy steels, ceramics, glass or a combination of any of them. However, currently, there a...
This study focused on the design of specific prostheses in the case of patients affected by Chordoma of the lumbar 4, lumbar 5, sacrum, and coccyx. A chordoma is a group of malignant and rare cancers, commonly found in the spine or skull bones. As a treatment method, if cancer has not spread beyond the bone, the infected bone’s removal procedure is...
A
common heavy vehicle, such as a bus, has a drum brake system as its safety
feature. This braking system utilizes air pressure inside pneumatic cylinders
as an actuator for moving the braking cam in order to create friction between
the brake shoe with the drum. Air pressure is produced by a compressor with the
help of the internal combustion engin...
All due to the complex nature of the electroencephalography (EEG) signal, it is a challenge to be able to use it as the driver of an electric artificial hand. By using EEG signal, the command for artificial hand movements becomes more intuitive and natural. This study aims to classify EEG signals to serve as electronic hand control. Classification...
Besides minimizing environmental impact, one of the goals of ecological intensification for aquaculture is production. Production forecasting is needed to make policies in planning, especially in terms of meeting consumer demand. This paper introduces a method to forecast the total shrimp production for Litopenaeus vannamei and Penaeus Monodon in I...
Commercial microwave oven 800 W for sintering hydroxyapatite is being developed. The required temperature for sintering hydroxyapatite is 1200°C. A temperature 1200°C can be achieved if commercial microwave combined with susceptor and insulators material. This research is aiming to study about the effect configuration of SiC and Ceramic Fiberboard...
Based on the X-Ray Fluorescence test it was identified that the calcium content in green mussel shells was very high with concentration about 93.83%. The calcium is the main constituent of hydroxyapatite besides phosphorus, so the purpose of this study is to identify a very good potential for synthesized hydroxyapatite from green mussel shells, whi...
Surface roughness is specifically known as an important factor in osteointegration of implant material. Sandblasting is a common procedure used to increase surface roughness. This research investigates the effect on surface roughness of Ti-alloy implants due to different sandblasting parameters. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect o...
The use of Modular prosthesis become one of the best solutions to treat bone cancer despite amputation. This study developed a new modular MegaProsthesis Distal femur by giving some modifications to the geometry and also some features. Therefore, this new model was designed and simulated by analyzing stress analysis. The simulation using internal l...
Hydroxyapatite (HA) is a major component of human hard tissue such as bone and teeth formed from the main elements of calcium and phosphorus with the formula Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2. HA materials from natural sources such as fish bones are acceptable to the human body as well because their physical and chemical properties are similar to those of human bone...
