The reproductive effect of lead on male reproductive system is pervasive (Goyer, 1990; Gilman et al., 1991) as lead exposure has been found to produce profound changes on the reproductive function in experimental animals. Past literature extensively documents that exposure to lead could affect male gonads at the quiescent developmental stage before the commencement of active spermatogenesis. Despite the tremendous amount of data accumulated and with an increasing level of lead in the atmosphere due to rapid industrialization and overgrowing urbanization, this has led to the investigation on the effects of age dependent and concentration dependent on the male reproductive system of growing rats at the initiation of juvenile stage, continuing through the pubertal stage and post-pubertal period of activity of spermatogenesis. This will enable us to predict its effect on inducing damage to male reproductive system in early life. Therefore, this research seeks to provide scientific data and increase the current knowledge on the nature of lead toxicity on the male reproductive system and suggest possible further research area in this field.
