Question (1)
Scholarly publications could look daunting depending on the context and level of experience. I share my experience with a hope to inspire researchers and scholars to aim to contribute to the body of knowledge. Publications are like seeds you never know which would have the greatest impact and reads by others.
My 1st published research article titled The impact of group cohesiveness on organizational performance: The Nigerian case was published in 2015 and as at 20th June 2019 had clocked 5000 reads with about 18 citations from different countries. The same paper was rejected by two journals and I was happy when I got the desk rejections within one week, this enabled me to revise and resubmit to other journals. Several factors could have influenced the number of reads and this might include keywords, title and search engines artificial intelligence.
If you are starting your research /scholarly publication experience the following advice might be helpful:
· Researchgate and Linkedin Profile: Showcase your research on both platforms this increases the visibility.
· Keywords: Use keywords that increase the chances of other scholars reading the article or abstract.
· Monitor: Your publications are similar to the process of portfolio management, you have to monitor the reads, citation, and share on other platforms.
Publish: Take a step, publish and perhaps when you read your first paper perhaps you might laugh and see the improvements you have made. It all begins with taking a step
