In April of 1891, a city-wide riot erupted on the streets of Detroit. Sparked by the call for a general strike amongst the city's street railway employees, the strikers were soon joined by a diverse collection of sympathetic citizen and city leaders. What caused the riot, and what were its ultimate effects?
