Introduction
I focus on making the teaching and learning of chemistry more effective and engaging to address the critical national need for improving retention rates in STEM. To that end, my work involves 1) collaborative action research with instructors to refine teaching strategies, 2) empowering Graduate TAs, who play a crucial role in student success, and 3) exploring students cognitive processes in using scientific models for writing reaction mechanisms, aiming to optimize teaching methods in OChem.
