Does high environmental temperature (40°C and above) increase the tendency of postparturient uterine prolapse in Buffalo?
I have come across repeated cases of uterine prolapse following successful management of various types of dystocia cases in buffalo (parity ranging from 2 to 5). Some of the cases were fresh and others delayed. The type of intervention employed ranged from mutation and traction to fetotomy. We frequently handle similar types of condition without any such complications in other seasons. This being the hot summer season with temperatures of above 40 degree Celcius and humidity levels above 10% and fast rising, I couldn't help but to wonder if the stress associated with heat might have something to do with the aforementioned trend.

I am not aware of any papers demonstrating an effect of heat stress on uterine prolapse in cattle or buffalo.

In my opinion, the cause of uterine prolapse may from many reason. such as the strength of uterine muscle, the condition of parturition, etc.
You need to provide more information on the distribution of these complication in buffallo over time and how they occur possibly on monthly bases. High ambient temperatures like those you mention are indeed very high and would affect not only the buffallo but other mammals as well. The problem here is that animals living in these areas are likely to have adapted to these harsh conditions

i just had an observation which made me wonder about a potential underlying link. will try Salome's suggestion and try to look deeper in to the matter. perhaps, more retrospective and future observations can tell more.
The complications after the manipulation and fetotomy to resolve dystocia are the causative agents of prolapse, the elevated temperature affect the general condition of the cow which may be in return make this problem a serious one.
