Will the chemicals in pH paper or strips contaminate the final product?

it is known that pH paper contains flavins, which changes colour according to the pH of liquid (for me its hydroxyapatite). So is there any chances of contamination if we use a pH paper.

Dear all, regarding portable pHmeter, do you have any brand recommendation? I have seen the Mettler Toledo and Hanna. Any of you have experienced any of those?
Thanks

You never should use the pH paper directly on the sample, you should use a plate where you make the analysis, taking some drops from the sample. In cualitative analysis thats a rule. You should never use the paper directly on the sample, but I think that the pH paper does not contamine the sample.

Dear Bhuvaneswari,
There are pH test suitable for all media in environmental analysis and industrial controls during manufacture. The particular manufacturing method gives the pH indicator strips decisive advantages on the indicator paper: since the indicator is not bleeding, the band can be left in the measuring medium without contaminating it.
Wth my best regards

It is better to use digital pH meter for measuring the acidity or alkalinity of liquid. This is quick, economical and reliable whereas pH paper just give approximate. However pH paper may contaminate liquid ,depend on type of liquid.

If you are doing environmental analysis the best option is to carry out lectures with a portable digital pHmeter. Nevertheless, if you are measuring pH at water streams I don´t think samples should be contaminated with pH indicator strips nor with indicator paper but results are only aproximations and not accurate measurements. They will not also contaminate significantly little liquid sample.
