When a friendship becomes more of a competition, it might be time to end it. Do you agree?
This type of friend is always finding ways to compete, whether its for the attention of a guy, the approval of other friends, or for job-related praise. The Competitive Friend doesnt have the ability to simply congratulate another friend on his/her accomplishments or positive news.

No relationship in the world can ever be ended. The aforementioned friendship can be weakened but not ended.
When friendship turns up to be a competition, it can never be called friendship anymore. At the same time, it can never be ended.

We all live in the competitive world & as such in the line of development & also with our interest & hobbies we very often become to prefer in the line of development of our known persons. As the matter of fact , competition is not at all bad as it helps us to grow for the growth of our betterment .During our study period we desire to make a better performance or the score of marks in comparison of other students .
This line of competition has his root right from the school & subsequent higher career . It is in this line , we work out our action of life.
As a matter of fact competition is not bad & it should be taken in the word of sprite & not of jealously .All person are not equal & very often regarding the progress of their friends, relative ,& such other known person such persons become jealous of their achievement , & in the spirit offering a good wishes for the progress of the friend very often such person take a negative traits & disturb the atmosphere of the friendship. Forgetting the basic facts that Friend in need is Friend Indeed .
This is my personal opinion

True friendship can not be transformed in any form and at any case, and as long as it has been transformed, it means that the selection process of such friendship which was wrong and not been properly constructed then we should decide to end it.
The rivalry between friends must be constructive for all sides and not compete to win from one at the expense of the other.

Friendship is build on parallels and not on competition. The bible warns against bad company. Such competitive spirit may lead to arrogance, the destructive attitude that separate friends. If such a friend does not change his/her attitude..then the spirit on the old adage 'prevention is better than cure' must take its due course.

We should understand and differentiate two separate terms, MATES and FRIENDS.
We may have many mates in life, but may get one or more than one friend in life, if we lucky enough.
We wrongly call our 'mates' as 'friends'. Mates are like a temporary companion siting at the side of my seat in a bus or train during a journey.
All the discussions performed on 'mates' only.

Dear Doha
Breaking up with friends isn't always the easiest decision to make — but it can be the healthiest. Not everyone is meant to be our friend forever — and that’s OK. The truth is, friends don’t always act like friends. And when that becomes a pattern, it’s time to demote them to acquaintance, where they belong. Friendships are supposed to be supportive and encouraging, not polarizing and antagonistic. So if you look around and realize you and your bud are pretty much participating in a match-up it could be time to exit through this friendship

Dear Doha,
Never. A true friend, not a simple mate, is a friend forever. Friends are human and, as such, are not perfect human beings. No one is perfect in this world. Because of this, even true friends may inadvertantly begin to compete between them. This does not mean, however, that this competition endures for long. As I see it, true friends will soon come to the conclusion that competition between them makes no sense and leads nowhere. Because of this, they may decide not to compete anymore,
and hence, become still more friends. Humans' ability to reconceptualize situations allows them to transform negative situations into positive situations.
This is, of course, my personal opinion. So, I understand quite well those who think that competition bebween friends represents a blatant contradiction. This would be the case if such a competition endured for long, or even forever. As I mentioned before, when two friends begin to compete, they can proffit from this situation and decide not to compete anymore and foster their friendship. As a developmental psychologist I am optimist and think that negative situations can be transformed into positive ones. I must confess, however, that from an ideal viewpoint friendship does not go well with competition.
Best regards,
Orlando

Dear Doha - I disagree because a healthy competition could inspire a friend to greater heights. However, there are times when a friend undermines your effort to succeed and in these cases, I would move away from such friend but always maintain a civil trlationshop with them. This way, you may be able to help them become better people. Amir

Competition and friendship are not mutually exclusive. You can compete with your colleagues in a friendly manner. This would enhance the skills of both persons. Clear communication between the two is vital so that friendship can continue unhindered.

Feeling of competitiveness between friends generally leads to friction, consequently, there will no more be good relation. So, it is better to give up such a friendship.
Friendship is based on mutual trust, help, and appreciation. But once the felling of competition comes in between there will be no place for friendship characteristics.

Human beings have instinctively different scales and intelligence percentages. In my estimation, the positive competitiveness between people naturally occurs without even feeling in it. However, the negative competition can lead to an acute jealousy but when the jealousy becomes extensive , its a time to do something before things getting worse and causing a real hostility .
