What is the difference between scoping and integrative literature review?

Hello RG colleagues. Can anyone shed light on the major difference between scoping and integrative review of literature. Been reading about it and it seems like both share very common features. Thank you very much.

An integrative review is a better tool when there is a paucity of quality research on a specific topic and other types of literature may need to be included.

While the scoping review aims to map the literature, seeking to describe the results in a graphic and classificatory way to have a better ideia on what is there, Integrative review proposes to integrate the literature found on a determined object of investigation.

Hi Dr. Rama I. Ali . Any thoughts on this?
"Scoping reviews have great utility for synthesizing research evidence and are often used to [categorize or group] existing literature in a given field in terms of its nature, features, and volume."
"The integrative review method is an approach that allows for the inclusion of diverse methodologies (i.e. experimental and non-experimental research)."

Khansaa Azeez Obayes Al-Husseini thanks for replying to my query. I am a bit confused. There are a lot of papers I have read with varying interpretation between scoping and integrative review.

I have the same question! :) if a scoping study is a kind of a pre-study look at something, would you use it as an actual method for a journal paper? why not then use an integrative lit review?

There are so many versions of literature reviews. Is there any articles that descibes differences and similarities? I.e., what is the difference between a scoping review and systematic literature review?

For this issue, perhaps a scoping review could be necessary. Of course it has already been done and is right here on the RG: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/26260835_A_typology_of_reviews_An_analysis_of_14_review_types_and_associated_methologies

Dear Ottar Ness , here is a brilliant article showing the differences between the various types of reviews.

Dear Vaccinologist,
We are thrilled to invite you to apply for the Sao Paulo School of Advanced Sciences on Vaccines, an exciting course that will provide participants with a critical and comprehensive view of the state of the art in vaccine research.
This 11-days course (November 22nd to December 2nd, 2018) will take place at the beautiful city of Santos, at the Brazilian coastline, and full coverage of costs and expenses will be provided for each participant (travel, meals, accommodation, etc).
We are aiming to select 80 highly motivated PhD students, post-docs and/or young independent researchers that are willing to discuss their research projects in poster sessions and in 10-minute oral presentations. Besides, a multidisciplinary group of world-renowned scientists will intensively discuss research themes related to the development of vaccines against pathogens of great importance - such as those causing malaria, AIDS, dengue, zika, and chikungunya - and cancer. Participants will also be divided in 8 groups, and each will receive a topic to work on. Topics will be pathogens/diseases of great challenge for vaccine development. Each group will discuss a complete approach to proposing a project in a 40-minute presentation at the end of the event. The goal is that each group should present a project for vaccine development in a grant application model. It is expected that important aspects for the development of vaccines such as the choice of antigen, adjuvant, route of administration, immunological response, correlates of protection, target population, and production will be addressed. The proposed topics will be announced in the beginning of the course.
