What is the difference between Library Automation vs. Automated System in Libraries?
Please give your valuable opinions.....
Most recent answer
Library automation generally refers to the use of computer systems and software to carry out library functions, such as cataloging, circulation, and inventory management. It involves the application of technology to streamline and improve various library processes.
On the other hand, an automated system in libraries could refer to a broader concept that includes not only the computerization of library tasks but also the incorporation of various automated technologies to enhance overall efficiency. This might encompass technologies like automated sorting systems, self-checkout machines, or RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) for tracking and managing library materials.
In essence, library automation is a subset of the broader concept of an automated system in libraries, with the former specifically focusing on computer-based processes within the library environment.

Library automation simply refers to the use of the computer to automate the typical procedures/activities of libraries such as acquisition, cataloging, serial control and circulationactivities that constitute a system. Whereas, any of the particular activity in that system can be called automated system in library, including adding new gadgets for enhancing efficient library service, for example, commissioning an Access Control System instead of Gate Register at the entrance.
