What are the most important Information Technology Milestones for Business Organisations?
Hey there,
I am in the mids of a research about the change management frameworks and models used for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) introductions in organisations and currently aim to read about as many past such efforts as possible.
Therefore, I'm looking to hear from experts what are the most important ICT innovations in the context of business organisations?
Furthermore, if you have any suggestions on papers about the change management techniques around the way these tech advancements were implemented, please share them.
Thank you very much in advance!

H Sidar,
It is a very broad topic, there are many good tried and tested methodologies, however from my experience there is not an off the shelf "one size fits all" solution. It would imporatnt to make reference to methodologies and take from their what is relevant to your situation or enviroment.
Some focal points:
Leadership support/sponsorship
The organisation needs to have a culture to embrace change
Involve the end user, us ICT folk tend stick to their "own views/opinions", but it is important to remember the IT system is their for the benefit of the business and the respective users.
Adopt a growth mindset

Richard Nolan’s model of IT growth/development stages has stood the test of time.
Meanwhile, I have found John Kotter‘s 8 step process very useful for managing the large-scale organizational change associated with IT implementation.

Hi Sidar,
I wrote an article on change management using Kotter’s Change Management Model. See the link here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/change-management-nnamdi-onyebuchi/. The model is kind of universal and can be used while introducing any major change in the organization. Regarding the most important ICT innovations in the context of business organisations, I think it depends on the kind of business outcomes the organization expects. On a general sense, Mobility and Security of information are very essential to any business today because of the rise in the adoption of public cloud platforms by businesses.

During last decade, I had designed and deployed a Game-based-approach for facilitating a rapid paced CHANGE. I found the approach most effective, both on speed and depth of change.
I had deployed the approach at 2 large enterprises, one from the brick-n-mortar industry [oil & Gas] and other from the professional service industry [Consulting].
The approach is documented in my book. Here's a link to the book.

Hi.,
Technology can be used to protect financial data, confidential executive decisions and other proprietary information that leads to competitive advantages. Simply put, technology helps businesses keep their ideas away from their competition.
