What are the main components of a good computational science program for undergraduates?
What are the main components of a good undergraduate computational physics program? Which resources if any are available for new faculty engaged in such initiatives?

In my view the program should have a good balance between theory and practicals. It should be application driven. Teaching plain theory without clear motivation to students why they are learning it is not that fruitful. Ensure that the theory is mixed balanced andrigorous enough for the ededucation programme, in this case under graduates. Students should be encouraged and exposed to application of the theory on some study cases with appropriately chosen datasets. Long story short, see example programmes in world top class institutions of higher learning.
Basic computational skills using Mathematica. Ordinary differential equations, with applications in mechanics and nonlinear dynamics, using both Mathematica and Matlab. Solving partial differential equations using grid methods in Matlab.
Today world has changed to,"signals world" or indirect mathematical. With advent in computers/micro controllers for doing all kind of works, related pure science/medical science/engineering etc.Mathematical modeling, the only way to understand the subject in detail,with physical phenomena (using Matlab simulation technic , better understand can achieved by under graduate students, the future doctors/engineer/scientist ).
To make them used to, use the readimate , user friendly software and computational technics, with computer, ipad, cellphone, and matlab, for their problems related to physics and modern science(communication technics, with idea of setalite communication they use in their day today life,) and generate intrest of learning user friendly technics.
