What?

I have just read some of the comments regarding this group.

Are we interested in consciousness, cognition, or language processing?

Some of us are not completing Ph.Ds or writing books.

Many simply want to gather and exchange facts because we deal with communities where the understanding of language is essential to our own creative efforts.

Perhaps we can simply begin to ask questions that are heuristic.

Robot dancing - adapting robot dance to human preferences

Hi,

As part of my research project, I'm looking into how we can make robots dance and adapt their robotic dance movements to the preferences of humans. The ultimate aim of the research is to develop an overal model for dancing robots as my contribution to make robots more socially acceptable in society.

So far, I have developed a program to make robots learn the fundamentals of dance and have now modified the program so that the robot changes and adapts it's movement to human preferences, but currently on the process of doing experiments.

I was wondering if any you wouldn't mind taking part in this questionnaire, by simply observering some videos of my dancing robot and answering honestly the related questions.

I'll also be interested to know if anyone else is doing work in this area or can share ideas etc.

Most people I know have an idea of what is known by the general public within their culture, but I've rarely seen someone assert the opposite. Is it possible that people are aware of what everyone knows but are not sure about things which they don't know? Everyone rightly assumes that facts highly specific to one's daily life are not common knowledge, but as one generalizes I've noticed people become less sure about shared knowledge. This becomes clear in the assumptions people make when telling stories.

Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? Is this something every other person knows and I've just missed? haha

A dynamic of consciousness, "discovery" is one of the essential driving forces of living entities. Even basic primate behaviors such as the drive for food, sex, social interplay can be said to be based in the act of "discovery". So, what is the nature of this drive? Could a machine be instilled with this? Is it simple matter of novelty, or is it a factor of "learning"? It seems to be a blend of feeling and logic resulting in development of conceptualization, often leading to further investigation or parsing of root cause (reflection)..

I have three features of lengths 100, 25 and 128 for every subject. I want to use SVM. What is the best approach? Of course, scaling/normalization will be done.

Question 1 : Should I place these three features in one vector for every subject or is there any other appropriate way to deal it.
