Pelton Turbine (Hydro-Turbine)

One or more free jets discharge water into an aerated zone, impinging on the buckets of a runner, in a Pelton wheel(a type of impulse turbine). Pelton turbines are typically employed in situations where there are high heads and low flows. Because the runner must be situated above the maximum tailwater to allow operation at atmospheric pressure, draft tubes are not required for an impulse turbine.

Actually, I want to calculate different design parameters for governing stage of a multistage turbine. I only have initial steam pressure, temperature, kinetic energy and steam flow rate before the stage. Now the thing is that I need available heat drops from stagnation parameters before starting other calculations. So how can I calculate available heat drop from the above mentioned parameters?

Hi,
I simulate the flow around a Savonius turbine using the technique of Sliding Mesh. I have the file containing the values of Cm, but I don't know how to use it with Area weighted average to pull off the correct value.

i was doing a simulation of 50 KW radial turbine in ansys -CFX. when i ran the simulation on pressured based boundary condition, i successfully got the result, now as i have to scale it to 100 KW and again when i tried to run the simulation based on inlet pressure and outlet mass flow rate. it is giving me this error Floating point exception: Overflow ( mach number increases ).
