How could the concept of improving the maintenance based on simulation modeling be integrated with the philosophy of total productive maintenance?
I've read that "success in today’s manufacturing climate depends upon the
implementation of multiple complimentary and proven management strategies".
my inquiry is about whether simulation modeling (maintenance simulation modeling ) is integrated with the TPM philosophy and how it is integrated or contributed to TPM in general?
The ultimate maintenance challenge is the nuclear power plant which has hundreds of millions of paths to failure. The uncertainties are massive and experimentation at the systems level is forbidden. One expert in the field called for an "ethos of seeking failure." I have written a paper about designing a work organization for NPP with a focus on "failure" as a means of discovering and improving maintenance. Email me at berniker@gmail.com if you want a copy.

The integration of the maintenance with the productive process planning is a particular problem of systems conciliation. It is needed to generate solutions population forr both maintenance and production process schedules. For each iteration of the conciliation algorithm it is needed to simulate its overall behaviour. I hope you understood me.
Actualmente he leído que tiene sus basamento en la industria 4.0. Con sus mayores alcance mediante los gemelos digitales. Responde a la integración entre la automatización, el monitoreo de condición y la simulación.
Unfortunately I can't really answer whether there are actual TPM strategies which incorporate simulation modelling. I can confirm that simulation of different ensembles of management strategies can be evaluated as to their merits and deficiencies using simulation models. This approach has been used a number of times in the domains of fisheries management (look for the name Keith Sainsbury), and in the two large studies I was involved in along the northewestern coasts of West Australia -- the North West Shelf Joint Ecosystem Managent Strategy, and the Ningaloo Collaborative Cluster. While these projects didn't deal with maintenance issues per se, industrial processes were simulated in ways which resulted in environmental effects which could percolate through multiple systems. These multiple-linkage effects are a significant part of why these kind of approaches are important -- while we can often safely ignore second order effects in many systems, there are times when they are really important drivers of dysfunction.
