Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) research: Is it too old fashioned?

I am interested to study ESL/EFL learning and teaching in the light of CALL and digital curriculum usage in Kenya and Finland .. Is CALL too outdated for these scenarios? I welcome all ideas. Thank you!

Based on the findings of our colleagues which confirm that integrating CALL or ICT in EFL / ESL results mainly from self-training, I reckon this is the case in many countries. I wonder whether this phenomenon is inherent in the nature of the traning in CALL itself which is more a process than a one-shot training session. It seems that only enthusiasts and those with high grit can subscribe to the lifelong training!
