Can Post-colonial theory be applied to the American West?

In a survey of 5,000 MBA students, for example, more than half acknowledged that they cheat.  Yet only one in twenty, or five percent, of the Deans of the top 100 US Business Schools thought they "might have an academic integrity problem."  Moreover, top scholars like Jeffrey Pfeffer of Stanford and Henry Mintzberg of McGill University have described business school MBAs as largely irrelevant and too focused on analysis rather than on people. Finally, despite the fact that more than half of the US population under 18 is now non-Caucasian, American universities have consistently failed to train American-born minorities in doctoral programs -- such as business -- where a 2006 report indicated that 53% of doctoral candidates are minorities but only 5% are Native Americans, American-born Hispanic, or American-born Blacks. . . and the problem is only getting worse.

How has minority figures help made those people in their minority group better to overcome adversity and racism

Other things being equal(Ceteris Paribus), it can be said that types of democratic outcomes possible under majority rule based democracy are normal democratic outcomes and extreme democratic outcomes.…,,,Under normal democratic outcomes the majority view rules, either as a full majority or a partial majority.  Under extreme democratic outcomes the true minority view rules, which raises the question, can extreme democratic outcomes take place if there is no chaos?. I am writing a research paper for my international relations studies on theories of international relations. In this paper I analyse critique from a postcolonial perspective on the neorealist theory of nuclear weapons (how they should be able to maintain peace through a deterrent strategy). In the last part of the paper I then question whether we should from now on combine these two theories or if that combination is even possible considering that theories can not explain everything and that they are just abstractations of reality. I am looking for more literature on this matter.

I am a social scientist (more accurately a criminologist) who works in the United States.

A couple of years ago, I submitted my manuscript to a journal in Europe for a possible publication. The journal editor replied that his journal does not take a manuscript with advanced statistical analysis. The editor recommended me to submit the same manuscript to a journal in the United States. By the way, the journal in Europe to which I submitted is a pretty decent one.

My question is:

Is it true that social scientists in Europe, in general, less inclined to statistical methods than their counterparts in the United States? Instead, do European social scientists more rely on theoretical and qualitative research methodology in comparison with American counterparts. The answer may be dependent upon a specific discipline in social science and also upon an individual social scientist's preference: but, I am asking about the difference in general research trend and tradition between Europe and the US.

A great deal of valuable research has been done on the basis of Mill's work on epistemologies of white ignorance. In particular, I find Melissa Steyn's (2012) work on white ignorance among narratives from the Apartheid Archives quite illuminating. But my own interest is on the way themes of white ignorance may (or may not) be traced among university students born in or just before 1994. There are, of course, many ways of eliciting data from students, and one needs to select the most appropriate collection method in terms of one's research focus. Is anyone else (in or outside South Africa) working specifically on white ignorance among university students?

Physical, psychological and sexual abuse have been found to be risk factors for suicide in adolescents and adults (<65). These modes of abuse would seem to be associated with increased suicide risk in the elderly. Is there any research in the literature citing elder abuse as a suicide risk factor in those aged 65/over?

I am working with the Partners Conflict Tactics Scales and the Parent-Child Conflict Tactics Scales.

Both sets of scales include several types of violent / maltreatment actions.

Each sub-scale has items asking for the frequency of actions/behaviors.

What is the best way of scoring a sub-scale (e.g. physical abuse) taking into account that each item has different severity levels in addition to the frequency Likert-type answer?

Additionally, is it possible to combine different forms of violence into a composite index? (An index for partners violence and another index for child maltreatment).
