Project planing is generally defined as assigning the project tasks to the available resources. Through WBS the formation of the project process will be determined and according to the manager's discretion this activity will be performed. There is not any method for planning in the current project management methodologies, only the existent approaches are the available templates provided through the relative methodology. You can download them e.g. PMBOK documentation.

Simple method is to assign each planned activity to a calendar to make it a schedule. Make a bar of each activity if you know the duration. Otherwise assign a duration based on experience..Then establish the relationship between activities, in other words determine the logic behind each predecessor and successor activity.
Planning is done is abstract. Schedule is when you tie the activity or plan o a calendar.
