Prof. D A Gayan Nayanajith: I disagree with you. Artificial Intelligence (AI) currently has many different aspects where its name is no longer spacious to hold these aspects. The same thing has happened with the "Computer" as a name. Its name is originally initiated to hold the four-basic-computing operations (+, -, *, and /). But now computer means logic, AI,...etc.
Given that we can’t run the modern world without AI and most current modern applications are AI-intensive, this discipline is behind all the developments you see now. But there is another face to the same coin that you will see that at the following RG link:
This is behind the fact that expenditure on AI represents a significant fraction of Gross National Product (GNP) in most, if not in all, developed countries.
Note: GNP in the Arabic language is "الناتج القومي الإجمالي"

There has been a use of Machine learning since centuries, but the main difference is recently it is digitized algorithms/methods in comparison to previous manual machine learning algorithms.
There are still hundreds of thousand of mathematical formulations that still need to be implement via computer coding/capitalization for practical applications, but it need computers that may millions time faster than the current fastest computers. AI cannot be mature to its ending limit within next million years.... it will grow, progress and upgrade in its further evolution steps , but will never stop/end....it is an ocean of applications via ruing mathematical models over digital fuels.

“Artificial intelligence” technology is unquestionably and undoubtedly doing more than ever — for both good and bad. It’s being deployed in health care and warfare; it’s helping people make music and books; it’s scrutinizing your resume; judging your creditworthiness and adjusting/modifying the photos you take on your phone. In short, it’s making decisions that affect your life whether you like it or not.

Technology has advanced at such a rate that businesses no longer need to compromise to fit the technology. This type of hyper-personalisation increases productivity for business software users and will continue to be a prime focus for businesses in 2020.
Take, for example, the rise of algorithmic social media timelines we have seen in the last few years. For marketers, AI and machine learning mean personalisation is becoming more and more sophisticated, allowing businesses to supercharge and sharpen their focus on their customers. Companies which capture insights to create personalised customer experiences and accelerate sales will likely win in 2020. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.computerweekly.com/blog/Eyes-on-APAC/AI-and-machine-learning-is-not-the-future-its-the-present%3famp=1

In recent years, artificial intelligence technologies, machine learning, Blockchain, Big Data Analytics platforms and other technologies of the current fourth technological revolution and Industry 4.0 can be used in the field of improving cybersecurity techniques. Currently, research is being carried out to build intelligent anti-virus programs that will create some kind of anti-worms, anti-viruses, anti-key-loggers, anti-malware programs, against -virus applications, etc., when computer viruses and other forms of cybercriminal techniques, malicious software attack a specific IT system connected to the Internet. According to such a concept, it would be necessary to implement artificial intelligence in the field of cybersecurity. If such solutions arise, there is also a risk that cybercriminals will also start using artificial intelligence to improve the technique of cybercriminal attacks. In this way, the competition between cybercriminals and IT specialists employed in companies and institutions to ensure and improve cybersecurity systems, which has been going on for several decades, will continue and will enter the next level of technological competition. In view of the above, artificial intelligence technologies, machine learning, Blockchain, Big Data Analytics platforms and other technologies of the current fourth technological revolution as well as Industry 4.0 are finding increasing use in improving cybersecurity systems. Because the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic has increased the scale of digitization and internationalization of economic processes, remote social communication, e-learning education, online purchases by citizens, use of electronic online banking, online settlements and payments etc. so the importance of improving cybersecurity systems for internet data transfer and online financial settlements and transactions is growing in importance. Therefore, the need to improve cybersecurity systems is also growing thanks to the use of the technology of the current fourth technological revolution and Industry 4.0, including, among others, artificial intelligence technology, learning machines, Blockchain, Big Data Analytics platforms, etc.
Best wishes,

An important issue related to the directions of development of artificial intelligence are the possibilities of its use in the automation of production processes and offering services via the Internet. The SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic has shortened international, intermodal logistics chains. The result is also an increase in the use of ICT, Internet and Industry 4.0 information technologies to improve the processes of supply logistics, production and distribution of manufactured products and services offered. There is also a growing application of artificial intelligence and machine-learning technology to create and improve integrated logistics systems and internet avatars, i.e. virtual robots that take over the functions of human consultants for call center departments, advising Internet users on the presentation of the company's offer and in order to increase the scale of online purchases.

The directions of the development of artificial intelligence constitute one of the main topics of futurological considerations. For example, one of the key aspects of futurological considerations in science fiction novels and movies is the topic of determining the possibility of building autonomous robots equipped with artificial intelligence, artificial consciousness, and emotions typical of living beings. However, in order to answer the question to what extent is it real, is it possible to build artificial awareness, one should first precisely define what artificial intelligence is. First of all, it is necessary to answer the question of how artificial awareness could be created in the future as part of the improvement of artificial intelligence technology. Besides, could the constructed artificial consciousness ever be considered a cybernetic equivalent of human intelligence and consciousness, or would it only be a highly advanced imitation of what we call human intelligence and consciousness. In my opinion, the latter option is more likely, because machines, even with advanced AI, autonomous robots will never have emotions. Alternatively, they can only simulate possessing human emotions. So they also won't have the fullest sense of the emotional intelligence. They can only have certain algorithms coded in the software, and they can only simulate having emotional intelligence.
Best wishes,

According to the current, commonly accepted standard of defining these concepts, emotions are possessed only by highly organized living beings, including people. People have emotional intelligence. Emotions are felt by highly organized living beings who have consciousness. Rational beings such as man are aware of their existence and the relationship of their person with the environment. Currently, it is not possible to build robots that have awareness of their existence and emotions. Even high-generation artificial intelligence is just a machine. Autonomous robots equipped with artificial intelligence are also machines, so at least in the context of current technology, it is not possible to build robots with emotions. So robots equipped with emotions appearing in science fiction novels and movies cannot be treated as part of futurological visions, but are still just pure fantasy today. Of course, this may change in the future.

On the other hand, futurological visions of the future presented in science fiction literature and film are only partially realized when it comes years of these earlier futurological visions. For example, the first version of Blade Runner, in which the main character was played by Harrison Ford, presented a vision of the future for 2019. It is now this year and this vision of the future has hardly come true. A second version has been made recently, a remake of this film with the same title and so that the vision of the future could be considered futurological, the action of the film was moved into the future, respectively, until 2049. I wonder in what part the visions of the future presented in this film will come true, when year 2049? Will the green technologies presented in this film be developed to such an extent as to stop the progressive climate change? Will autonomous robots equipped with artificial intelligence be so perfect that it will be difficult to distinguish them on the streets and in companies from people? There are many questions that we will know the answer to in several or several dozen years. One thing is for sure. In the coming years, the scale of new applications of artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning technologies and other Industry 4.0 technologies in various branches and sectors of the economy will certainly grow. In 2020, the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic accelerated the development of robotic applications equipped with a specific generation of artificial intelligence. Robots helped care for people suffering from Covid-19 in hospitals. Equipped with artificial intelligence, the robots assisted law enforcement police in keeping order, in controlling citizens, e.g. in wearing masks in city parks, shopping malls, at stations of means of transport and communication, in logistics centers for deliveries and supplies, etc.
Best regards, Have a nice day, Stay healthy!

Yes it is very true that the AI is no more considered as a future era. It is now accepted as the most trending and demanding technological advancement in the field of medical science and engineering. But the most important question is that why it is not focusing towards the growth of agriculture. Indeed it is also very true that incorporation of AI is not equally accepted in many industries due to huge number of unemployment especially in most populous country like India.
Whereas implementation of AI is also nowadays very much needed in case of defense department. Space science, medical science, smart education system have already introduced AI as their prime asset to ensure better accessibility and reliability as well. But some of the above mentioned sectors are still not accustomed with the implication of AI and the question of unemployment is still rising another debate on whether AI is considered as blessings or curse in this present scenario.

Like so many, I am shocked and saddened at seeing war break out in Europe. My thoughts – and those of the ResearchGate team – are with the people of Ukraine and everyone affected.
ResearchGate is an international company, whose purpose is to enable scientists across the world to work together openly and collaboratively, regardless of borders or nationality. We have people from over 40 countries on our staff of around 200, and being based in Berlin, we are profoundly aware of the human cost of conflicts, the echoes of which have shaped and scarred our home city. We join with the international community in condemning the actions of the Russian state.
We have been asking ourselves: What can we do?
From today, we will offer free advertising space worth $2.5 million on our network to humanitarian organizations working to respond to the crisis. ResearchGate benefits from over 50 million visitors every month, and we hope this initiative can help raise funds and awareness for those organizations that are having direct impact and need support.
We also want to use our platform to highlight the response from the scientific community. Personally, I have found the messages of support from scientists everywhere to be truly heartfelt, and I would like to highlight some of the community initiatives I’ve seen here:
Additionally, I’m posting here some of the organizations responding to the crisis and actively soliciting donations:
To help gather more support for these initiatives, please consider sharing this post further (you don’t need a ResearchGate account to see it), and I will continue to update it with other initiatives as I find them. You can also click “Recommend” below to help others in your ResearchGate network see it. And if you know of any other community initiatives that we can share here please let us know via this form: https://forms.gle/e37EHouWXFLyhYE8A
