A project to facilitate communications and networking between the young crop scientists (Nachwuchs AG) in agriculture / agronomy.
The 9th International Conference on Functional-Structural Plant Models (FSPM2020), October 5-9, 2020, will be a online conference, including both synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous (on demand) parts. FSPM2020 aims to gather scientists working in the multi-disciplinary field of plant modelling and its applications. FSPM2020 will target methodological innovations for modelling of 3D-structures at various organization levels of plants, simulation of plant-microclimate interactions, and novel applications in functional-structural plant modelling, centered on questions in plant science, agriculture, horticulture, forestry and ecology.
This project aims to provide guidelines for canopy design and crop management improvement by disentangling the environmental controls of leaf acclimation in the photosynthetic traits. Related publications are available in the updates.

About Tsu-Wei Chen
  • Tsu-Wei holds a professorship and DFG Emmy-Noether Program. He works on up-scaling the environmental effects on leaf photosynthesis to canopy level using functional-structural plant models and systems analyses. He is specialized in deciphering the triple feedbacks between environmental triggers, dynamic canopy architectures and physiological functions. He focusses on model-assisted high-throughput phenotyping and acclimation mechanisms optimizing canopy photosynthesis.
