About the lab
Team Working Life Denmark is a private research and consulting company. Our aim is to promote the wellbeing, health and safety, and working conditions for managers and employees across various industries through research, evaluation and consultancy. We base our work on:
- High professional and theoretical knowledge gained through participation in research projects
- Wide knowledge of specific occupational health problems across work settings gained through consultancy and advisory service
- Methodological strength, and practice-oriented knowledge acquired through evaluation and process development tasks
Team Working Life Denmark is conducting research with the aim to create knowledge that is of value to practice and practitioners.

Senior policies have been introduced by many Danish companies with the intention of retaining senior employees, but implementation can be challenging and may create tension at the workplace. This study aims to explore how social capital at the workplace may support or counteract the development and implementation of senior policies. A qualitative case study approach was used to collect and analyze interview data from managers, union- and H&S representatives, and senior employees at eightheen workplaces. The analysis reveals that successful development and implementation of a senior policy rely on legitimacy, transparency, and involvement of relevant parties in the process, as well as a good fit between the policy and the companies’ structure for collaboration. Workplace social capital is discussed as a supporting factor for senior employee retention, and a reciprocal positive relationship between implementing senior policies and procedures and the social capital of the workplace is suggested.
The purpose of the project, Psychosocial Working Environment at Regional Workplaces
(PARA), was to increase knowledge about efforts that have a positive effect on the
psychosocial work environment at workplaces organized under the regional level of
government in Denmark. At the same time, this research-based knowledge was meant to
be used locally at regional workplaces as a starting point for concrete initiatives to improve
the work environment.
Evidence-based practice or evidence-informed decision-making is considered a vital and practical approach to prevent workplace accidents and injuries (van Dijk et al., 2010; Van Eerd, 2019). Despite discussions to better support evidence-informed practice in occupational health and safety (OHS) (Baker et al., 2015; Schulte, 2017; Waterson, 2016), OHS research and systematic reviews describing various interventions to address occupational injuries (Dyreborg et al., 2022; Teufer et al., 2019), challenges remain in getting this research into practice (Van Eerd, 2019). Understanding the linkage between research and practice is needed to support evidence informed OHS policy and practices.
The article situates the analysis of OSH monitoring and enforcement within the framework of regulatory studies. In particular, the empirically based Holistic Compliance Model clarifies the multifarious influences on compliance behavior. As well as examining how the OSH regulators organize and conduct monitoring and enforcement, and differences in their approaches, a central concern of this article is whether any of their initiatives address key challenges facing OSH regulators worldwide.
