The aim of this research was to study the validity and reliability of Standard Progressive Matrices (SPM) in Jordan. To achieve this goal, the researchers applied the test on a stratified random sample, which consisted of 414 subjects chosen from a selection of secondary schools in Amman, whose ages ranged from fifteen to seventeen years old. The research reached a number of results, the most important for the validity section were: (1) good difficulty and discrimination indexes for the items; (2) significant correlation with the achievement test; (3) a significant difference between the average scores of the normal students and the gifted students when used Contrasted Groups method (4) a significant correlation with the SCAT; (5) a significant difference between the highest 15 percent of scores and the lowest 15 percent of scores when selected from the extremes of the distribution; (6) Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), which insured the theoretical building for the items according to Spearman’s theory of intelligence. Alongside, the results for the reliability section were: (1) internal consistency – with an alpha coefficient of 0.92; (2) split halves – 0.81; (3) test-retest – 0.69 – which showed significant correlation; (4) correlation between each item individually with the total score of the tests, which showed significant correlation for 59 items. The study recommend developing norms for the test, then to use it as a primary step to select the talent.
The aim of this study is to identify the practices and provisions of the Center for Talented Youth (CTY), a fully accredited, non-profit institute of the Johns Hopkins University. The center has earned an international reputation for the model it has developed for working with students of high mathematical and/or scientific ability. About 38.000 students each year are served through a wide range of provisions that include talent search, summer academic camps, on-line program, diagnostic and counseling center, and family academic camps. The application of the CTY provisions is examined in relation to high ability students in the context of Jordan. To reach to this goal, the researcher used a lot of methods in order to gather data, including CTY document review, meeting the CTY staff, observing a lot of classes, applying questionnaire for CTY International students, meeting the Ministry of Education's responsibles and Jubilee institution, applying questionnaire for King Abdullah II Schools for excellences' students in Salt city.,The result showed the need to develop CTY model in Jordan for the high ability students.
The norms of Minnesota multi faces personality inventory (second edition) MMPI-2 and the sixteen personality factor questionnaire of catel (fifth edition) The aim of the current study is to create special norms of the second edition of Minnesota multi faces personality inventory, and the fifth edition of the sixteen personality factor questionnaire of cattell. To this end, the researcher applied the Minnesota multi-faces personality inventory over a sample of (1646) secondary and university students as well as plenty of disorders. She also applied the sixteen personality factor questionnaire of cattell on (4700) secondary and university students. SPSS tools were used to process data.
