The international Dementia Academy provides courses for medical professionals as well as for caregivers of people living with dementia. Initiated in Bangladesh in 2021 for only medical professionals, IDA has expanded this year to re0offer the medical course for professionals in Bangladesh (IDAB), replicate the course with local intelligence in India (IDAI) and to offer a shorter course for caregivers of people living with dementia. The first professional course has been very successful with 20 delegates trained in Bangladesh, running from August 2021 to January 2022 with a final conference on the 8th of January attended by 67 learners. As a result of the course, 6 Quality Improvement projects in the field of dementia in Bangladesh were born, most of which are now in the application phases. Overall, the previous course is considered to be a big success, being accepted by the Alzheimer Disease International Conference, London, of June 2022. It is hoped and expected that the continuation and expansion of IDA in South Asia and further will help in drawing attention to dementia and empowering the public and stakeholders to manage dementia in the most effective way possible. IDA is strongly supported by major advocates of dementia in Bangladesh, including Alzheimer Society of Bangladesh, as well as international experts who have developed the course. On both instances, Esther Ireland has been the funder for the projects, supported by Global Brain Health Institute.
