This research aimed to examine studies on the use of games in social studies education using bibliometric analysis. This research has been carried out in descriptive scanning model. For this purpose, a systematic literature review was conducted using the keywords "social studies" and "game" in the Web of Science (WoS) database. Academic studies indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database were reached in the data collection phase. “Document title”, “abstract”, and “keyword” were chosen as the search criteria. 83 academic studies in the “Education/Educational Research” and “Education Scientific Disciplines” categories published between 1971 and 2021 were included in the research. The bibliometric analysis method was used in the data analysis. The research results showed that most of the studies were articles and published in 2014, 2015 and 2016, English, Turkish and Spanish were the most published languages, most of the authors were affiliated with or supported by the Nanyang Technology University, Singapore National Institute of Education and Georgia University System among all the institutions and Akdeniz University, Amasya University, Ataturk University and Hacettepe University among the Turkish universities, The USA and Singapore were the countries with the most publications, the number of citations increased after 2010, and the most common keywords used in the studies were social studies, game-based learning, games, elementary education and citizenship education. The research presents an overview of many components in the use of games in social studies education. It is believed that the findings of the research will serve as a reference for future studies
The present study, which examines teachers' opinions on the use of memoirs in social studies course, was designed within the framework of instrumental case study design, from one of the case study designs. The study group of the research consists of 40 volunteer social studies teachers. The research data were collected through an online form containing open-ended questions. The obtained data were analyzed by content analysis in the NVivo 10 program. According to the findings obtained from the research, it was seen that the teachers were able to make explanations about the word “memoir” in general. Along with this, it has been determined that teachers mostly use memoirs in the teaching of historical subjects in the social studies course to increase the permanence of the learned information and make the subject interesting. In addition, it has been determined that teachers have opinions that memoirs should be used in the process of teaching social studies, taking into account certain criteria, especially suitability for the subject and learning outcome. However, it has been revealed that teachers do not have enough knowledge about the subject/learning outcomes that can be used for memoirs in the Social Studies Curriculum and they do not consider themselves fully professionally competent in the use of memoirs in social studies. On the other hand, it was determined in the study that some problems were experienced in the use of memoirs in the social studies course arising from the teacher, student, textbook and program. Finally, it was concluded in the study that the teachers had partial awareness of the educational value of the use of memoirs in the social studies course and they needed professional training on the effective use of memoirs in the social studies course.

Academic studies indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database were reached in the data collection phase. The database was searched using the keyword "digital game". "Document title", "abstract", and "keyword" were chosen as the search criteria. 760 academic studies in the "Education/Educational Research" and "Education Scientific Disciplines" categories published between 2005 and 2021 were included in the research. The bibliometric analysis method was used in the data analysis. The research results showed that most of the studies were articles and published in 2017 and 2018, English and Portuguese were the most published languages, most of the authors were affiliated with or supported by the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology among all the institutions and Anadolu University among the Turkish universities, Taiwan and the USA were the countries with the most publications, the number of citations increased after 2008, and the most common keywords used in the studies were digital game-based learning, game-based learning, and digital games.
