Este artigo faz parte de uma serie de estudos sobre as proximidades estruturais e sistematicas entre Brasil e Australia. The management of urban spaces and environmental health has been growing in recent years, and the sound aspects were highlighted during the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Locations that generally showed noises from vehicle traffic presented a diversity of sounds, generally not perceived in everyday situations before the pandemic. Awareness of the sound impacts generated before the pandemic has provided a broad discussion between the scientific community and managers regarding developing tools to improve urban planning and environmental health in cities. This study aims to characterise the soundscape of two parks in Curitiba by triangulating evaluation methodologies proposed in the ISO/TS 12913-2 (2018). Such triangulation included the descriptive analysis of objective and subjective sound data, analysis and elaboration of sound and perception maps, providing a systemic overview of the sonic environment of the investigated parks.
 
This paper aims to analyse the measures adopted in Brazilian State Capitals and the Federal District, since the beginning of the pandemic, to ensure safety conditions in public transport against the possible contagion of COVID-19, suggesting sustainable actions aligned to SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities for the post-COVID future. Based on relevant data from March to July 2020, acquired from journals, newspapers, and municipal and governmental decrees, it was possible to identify measures adopted for public transportation during the first COVID-19 wave in Brazil. The results demonstrate that it is necessary to create a strategy and map the extent of population mobility in public transport. These information is essential for predicting risk areas, making decisions, and establishing effective control mechanisms. Innovative and sustainable urban mobility requires clear policies and cooperation between public authorities and private transportation companies and investment in public roads and infrastructure and sustainable actions aligned with SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities for the post-COVID future.
 
Environmental noise is a public health problem that arises mainly from vehicular traffic. In noise-sensitive areas, such as hospitals, the harm is even greater, as noise affects the recovery of patients and causes stress and disturbance to employees. Noise control measures are usually restricted to simulations and mathematical modeling. Given this context, the present study assesses environmental noise around a public hospital in Sorocaba city, São Paulo State, Brazil, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, benefiting from measures to restrict the circulation of vehicles and people. Measurements were performed in triplicate, on weekdays, at four points around the hospital during the day, and followed the guidelines of standard NBR 10.151/2019. The number of light and heavy vehicles was counted manually. The equipment used was the BK 2260 analyzer and a tripod with adjustable height. The circulation of light and heavy vehicles decreased significantly during the pandemic. However, this decrease was not enough for sound levels to meet the 50 dB(A) recommended for noise-sensitive areas. This fact can be due to the speed of the remaining vehicles being above the established for the surrounding streets. Vehicles are the main responsible for the high levels of noise in the area, overlapping the levels generated by the different activities in the study site.
 
This pandemic portrayed the country's social and economic inequality in terms of health services, work and social distancing. It was found that the spread of Covid-19 on a global scale is favored by the circulation of infected people and/or objects; changing the circulation in many land and air borders that needed to have restricted and/or closed accesses, including, the reduction and even the suspension of travels inside and outside countries, whose displacements are by road, rail, river and sea. In view of this, the search for measures to face the pandemic within the various socio-economic contexts, such as in this case of urban mobility, for example, the occupancy limit of 50% of seats in intercity transport and the mandatory use of masks. Urban mobility permeates as a social right and essential service, which needs to continue to function with due health care. It is necessary to maintain social distance and take due care. For the country to remain in this confrontation, it is necessary to guarantee democratic access to the city, together with measures to protect social actors from contamination by the New Coronavirus.

Challenges and Potentials on the experience of students and professors with remote learning in IES [IHE - Institutions of Higher Education] according to the SEMESP survey (2020).
The transformations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic affected people's routines and lifestyles on a global scale, especially regarding the role of technology. This becomes clear when we examine the state of education currently. The sudden suspension of traditional teaching and the critical aspect in the academy may be the perfect opportunity for a new examination of the potentials and challenges higher education currently faces. This article aims to circumscribe the pandemic's impacts on higher education and its constituents: students, professors, and educational institutions, after this great increase in technology's role in people's daily lives. This is materialized from a bibliographic review by the presented studies of Educação Vigiada "education monitored" (2020), GAFAM's monopoly over digital education platforms, and how data colonialism comes unnoticed as a consequence of the new technology-focused lifestyles. It was sought to draw a panorama from the opinions of students and teachers, through the SEMESP (2020) survey, pointing to the challenges and potentialities that will help in the adaptation of education in the future context.

Sound pressure levels before and during the pandemic.
This study aimed to evaluate environmental noise around a public hospital in the city of Sorocaba, Brazil, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The measurements were performed in triplicate, on weekdays, at three points around the hospital during the night, and followed the guidelines of the NBR 10151/2019 standard. At the same measurement points, the manual counting of light vehicles, heavy goods, and motorcycles was performed. The equipment used was the BK 2260 analyzer and the BK 4231 calibrator. For statistical analysis, data normality was verified through the Shapiro-Wilk test and, later, the differences in sound levels before and during the pandemic through the paired t-test. The correlation between sound levels and the number of vehicles was verified by Spearman's correlation. The level of significance adopted was α=0.05. There was a significant reduction in the movement of light and heavy vehicles during the pandemic and less reduction for motorcycles. It was found that P1 was the noisiest point and the one with the lowest variation in dB(A) during the pandemic, associated with higher speed and greater circulation of vehicles. Although there is a strong correlation between the number of vehicles and sound levels, statistically there was no significant difference. It is concluded with this work that there was a reduction in environmental noise around the hospital during the pandemic and that other factors should be taken into account, such as the speed of vehicles.
 
The conditions that existed in 1964 allowed the foundation of the Housing Finance System and the National Housing Bank (BNH), which led to the creation of large social housing projects the Housing Companies (COHABs). These projects were implemented to reduce the pressure for housing on the classes with lower purchasing power. This article aims to evaluate housing projects of social interest implemented in the 1980s through the BNH in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, analysing their implementation and consequences. The document analysis method was used on data characterising the occupied areas. The BNH action was significant due to the number of housing units delivered in the period, which benefitted 13,028 families, 58,626 people. The model followed considerably reduced the housing deficit, but also led to the formation of urban voids; this was related to the fact that the BNH is a central decision-making body at the federal level. Housing construction used areas in regions that were unattractive for the formal real estate market, in places far from the centre, which were often located on the banks of streams, outside the urban perimeter. This situation made it difficult for the population to access service, mobility, supply, and urban facility networks. At the end of the period evaluated, the need to improve public policies aimed at social housing became evident, in future avoiding some mistakes made in the implementation of housing projects in the city.
 
The demand-responsive public transport Citybus 2.0 was an innovation not only for Goiânia, but for all of Latin America. Created in 2019, this new way of getting around the city is intended to be a substitute for individual motorized transport, encouraging sustainable urban mobility. In order to analyze this new means of transport in the capital of Goiás, an online questionnaire was applied, which had 217 responses, of which 130 are users and 87 are non-users. The questionnaire had ten questions, two of which were general and eight with the purpose of collecting information on user satisfaction regarding the service provided by the new mode of transport. As for the perception of satisfaction, the items related to the cost and service range had the worst ratings.

Atualmente, observa-se a ma preservacao das areas de restinga em muitos segmentos na extensao das praias dos balnearios do municipio de Matinhos, litoral do Parana. Diante dessa situacao, o estudo realizado teve como proposta o mapeamento da area de cobertura vegetal de restinga na Praia de Caioba, para os anos de 2001 e 2015, apresentando a importância da restinga para a manutencao do ecossistema e as medidas juridicas aplicaveis para sua protecao e preservacao, contrastando com o projeto de revitalizacao que esta sendo executado na orla da Praia de Caioba, no municipio de Matinhos. Atraves de mapeamentos e saidas de campo, constatou-se o aumento da cobertura vegetal de 2001 para 2015, contudo o processo de revitalizacao da orla esta eliminando e devastando os segmentos da restinga ali existente. Given this situation, the study proposal was to map the vegetation area of restinga in Caioba Beach for the years 2001 and 2015, showing the importance of restinga for maintaining the ecosystem and the legal measures for protection and preservation, contrasting with the revitalization project that is running on the edge of Caioba Beach, in the city of Matinhos. Through mappings and field outputs, it was found the increased vegetation cover from 2001 for 2015, however the process of revitalizing the waterfront is eliminating and ravaging segments of existing restinga. Ante esta situacion , el estudio se llevaron a cabo para asignar el area de vegetacion del banco de arena en la playa Caioba para los anos 2001 y 2015, que muestra la importancia del banco de arena para mantener el ecosistema y las medidas legales de proteccion y preservacion , en contraste con el proyecto de revitalizacion que se ejecuta en la orilla de la playa Caioba , en la ciudad de Matinhos. A traves de viajes de mapeo y de campo , hubo un aumento de la cubierta 2001 de la tierra para el ano 2015 , pero el proceso de revitalizacion de la linea de costa esta eliminando y devastar segmentos del banco de arena alli existente. As Areas Verdes Urbanas tem sido diretamente afetadas pelo processo de urbanizacao que ocorreu nas Metropoles e Centros Urbanos. Alem de muitos beneficios para a saude humana, tais areas tem promovido melhoria da qualidade de vida para a populacao, no que diz respeito ao lazer, embelezamento paisagistico e microclima. No entanto, muitas ocorrencias tem sido reportadas relativo a problemas com o verde urbano. Isso ocorre por conta da sua dimensao ainda relevante no espaco urbano e a falta de recursos tecnicos para a manutencao preventiva, alem de outras questoes culturais e sociais. Nesse sentido, esse trabalho vem analisar os Relatorios de Ouvidoria do Municipio de Sao Paulo buscando entender a dinâmica das ocorrencias e protocolos abertos pelos municipes e eventuais tendencias de demanda nas categorias de eventos, bem como a importância e relevância do verde urbano e consequentemente, sua manutencao e planejamento. ABSTRACT The Urban Green Areas has been directly affected by the urbanization process that occurred in the Metropolises and Urban Centers. Besides many benefits to human health, such areas has promoted improvement of quality of life of the population with regard to leisure, landscaped embellishment and microclimate. However, many incidents have been reported concerning the problems with urban green. This happens because of their still relevant dimension in urban spaces and the lack of technical resources for preventive maintenance, and other cultural and social issues. Thus, this work comes to analyze the Ombudsman reports of Sao Paulo seeking to understand the dynamics of events and protocols opened by residents and possible demand trends in the categories of events, well as the importance and relevance of urban green and consequently their maintenance and planning. RESUMEN Las Areas verdes urbanas han sido directamente afectadas por el proceso de urbanizacion que ocurrio en las metropolis y centros urbanos. Ademas de muchos beneficios para la salud humana, tales areas ha promovido la mejora de la calidad de vida de la poblacion en relacion con el ocio, embellecimiento paisajistico y el microclima. Sin embargo, han sido reportados muchos incidentes acerca de los problemas con el verde urbano. Esto sucede debido a su dimension aun relevante en los espacios urbanos y la falta de recursos tecnicos para el mantenimiento preventivo, y tambien de otras cuestiones culturales y sociales. Por lo tanto, este trabajo trata de analizar los informes de la Defensoria de Sao Paulo en busca de comprender la dinamica de los acontecimientos y protocolos abiertos por los residentes y las posibles tendencias de la demanda en las categorias de eventos, asi como la importancia y relevancia de verde urbano y en consecuencia, su mantenimiento y la planificacion . O Paraná é um dos estados brasileiros mais atingidos por vendavais, os quais provocam inúmeros danos e prejuízos, como a destruição de construções, lavouras, danos à fauna e à flora e, ocasionalmente, a morte de pessoas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar a incidência de vendavais no Paraná entre 2013 e 2017. Para tanto, foi realizado um levantamento das ocorrências com base nos dados do Sistema de Defesa Civil (SISDC) e do Business Intelligence (BI), ambos da Coordenadoria Estadual de Proteção e Defesa Civil do Paraná. Com base nesses dados, foram realizados mapas e gráficos sobre as ocorrências desses eventos, de forma anual, sazonal e mensal, podendo-se verificar como e onde os vendavais provocaram prejuízos e danos no período analisado. Os resultados mostram que os vendavais ocorrem fundamentalmente na primavera e no verão, com destaque para os meses de setembro, outubro e novembro, e principalmente nas mesorregiões Metropolitana de Curitiba, Norte Central, Oeste e Sudoeste. Observou-se também que tais eventos são acompanhados por granizos, alagamentos e tempestade de raios.
 
The Federal Constitution of 1988 defined the Master Plan as a 'basic instrument' of urban development policy and subsequent legislation, which regulated the Urban Policy chapter (Estatuto da Cidade, Federal Law No. 10,257 / 2001), reinforced a set of participatory requirements in the availability and implementation of the corresponding policies. Based on this new institutional arrangement, this research paper analyzes a participatory structure in the process of reviewing the Master Plan for the municipality of Vitória, capital of Espírito Santo, in the period 2014-2018. The investigation took as an analytical parameter the participatory methodology proposed by the Ministry of Cities, whose distinguishing feature was the dissemination of democratic management instruments. The empirical analysis shows that several participatory mechanisms were implemented, such as public hearings of regional and social segments, thematic seminars, round tables, territorial assemblies, implementation of a collaborative website, involvement of the Municipal Council of the Urban Master Plan (CMPDU) and realization of the Municipal Conference on Urban Policy (Encontro da Cidade), in which the draft of the Master Plan bill was presented, discussed and voted on. Thus, the process incorporated the participatory methodology recommended by the Ministry of Cities and the corresponding legislation. The effectiveness of participation according to the guidelines of the City Statute is still an ongoing process, but the inclusion of democratic management mechanisms is a reality in Vitória, constituting an institutional advance.
 
Discussions about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and urban sustainability can help in the search for elucidating urban problems, considering the imprecision and conflicts that orbit around the debate on urban sustainability and the term sustainable development. This debate can contribute to future actions and proposals for urban public policies. Thus, the objective was to discuss Objective 11 of the 2030 Agenda, which deals with Sustainable Cities and Communities, from the perspective of collaborating with the debate on urban sustainability, based on the case study of Mossoró (RN). As a methodological procedure, documental and bibliographical research was carried out, around themes such as urban sustainability, sustainable development, and the 2030 Agenda, aiming to raise a theoretical reflection on these themes. Primary sources were researched in public archives of the Municipality of Mossoró and academic websites. In addition, 70 questionnaires were applied together to students and public servants of Mossoro's public university . It was found that the city only fulfills its social function when it guarantees its inhabitants, habitation; circulation, leisure; work, accessibility, education, and health. The challenges to thinking about sustainable cities are numerous and, on the other hand, the solutions are in place, and, therefore, the admission of public policies aligned with the production and adoption of technologies for sustainable cities is the possible path.
 
At the beginning of the 20th century, the city of São Paulo had three Hortos: the "Horto de São Paulo", better known as Horto da Cantareira, created in 1896 by Alberto Löfgren; the Horto do Museu Paulista, which was first planted in 1898 by the Museum's director, Hermann von Ihering; and the Horto Oswaldo Cruz, created in 1917 by the botanist Frederico Carlos Hoehne. All of them no longer exist with their original functions, but they preserve, in their spaces, some built and plant elements that are testimonies of the creation of these places. In this context, this article aims to make a brief history of these gardens, their insertions in maps of the time, the investigation of the fate they had and some components that preserve their memory today. Methodologically, the research used textual, cartographic and iconographic references present in primary documents, articles, theses and dissertations, as well as in the sites that house these places, in order to assess the objectives to be achieved. Through the material collected, it was possible to visualize and understand the locations of the mentioned gardens, their current uses and remaining elements.
 
RESUMO Informacoes relativas ao consumo de agua per capita podem ser consideradas ferramentas de grande valia para o dimensionamento de partes do sistema de abastecimento de agua de um municipio. O grande desafio ao projetista de infraestrutura urbana e a estimacao do consumo medio percapita de agua a ser adotado em um projeto de sistema de abastecimento de agua. O objetivo geral deste trabalho foi o de avaliar as caracteristicas fisicas e locacionais de lotes urbanos e correlaciona-los com o consumo percapita efetivo de agua. Foram analisados oito empreendimentos instalados no municipio de Sao Carlos (SP), Brasil, e foram observadas correlacoes entre a area media dos lotes, a densidade bruta populacional, a renda media domiciliar e o consumo medio percapita efetivo de agua. The challenge to the designer of urban infrastructure is the estimation of the average per capita water consumption to be adopted on a project of water supply system. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physical and locational characteristics of urban lands and correlate them with the actual per capita water consumption. Eight projects were analyzed in Sao Carlos (SP), Brazil, and correlations between the average area of lots, the gross population density, average household income and the effective per capita average water consumption were observed. El desafio para el disenador de la infraestructura urbana es la estimacion del consumo medio de agua por habitante que se adoptara en un proyecto para el sistema de suministro de agua. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar las caracteristicas fisicas y de ubicacion de los lotes urbanos y correlacionarlos con el consumo real de agua por habitante. Se analizaron ocho proyectos instalados en Sao Carlos y correlaciones entre el area promedio de los lotes, la densidad bruta de poblacion, el ingreso promedio de los hogares y el efectivo per capita se observo el consumo medio de agua.
